22 degrees this morning when I went down to the Chicken coop… 🥶 Cold, frosty morning with a beautiful Sunrise 🌅 Today marks 1 week till Christmas 🎄 So I don’t really mind the cold right now, it adds to the feeling of the season 🎅🏼 But, it’s fixing to get even colder… And, maybe snow ❄️ Did someone say White Christmas? It may just be in the cards… ❄️
As I write this blog, I’m sitting behind the wheel of my truck waiting on Jo to re-emerge from Krogers… Needed supplies for a Christmas party this afternoon 🎅🏼
As soon as we get back, Breakfast! More coffee ☕️ then it’s back to it! Merry Christmas 🎄
The lakes are covered with ice; Our trees are full with frost. It seems as a good nice winter, but one thing, one thing is lost.
~The Snow-The Snow-The Snow!
The fireplace is a cracklin’, the moon is full and bright. The stars are just there twinklin’, It seems as a perfect night.
But what is there missing? Maybe the perfect sound? Nothing but the wind gusts, blowing the snow around.
The fire goes out; the babies start cryin’, The wind picks up; I start smilin’.
Could it be? Finally some snow!? I looked out the window to see a dimming glow. I drank my hot chocolate, which warmed my body.
Then, like a lion, I jumped into bed, and slept.
When the light had shown in, I sprung out of bed. So quick, she heard me, my mom said.
I looked outside, and saw no brown. The ground was bright! The ground was white!
Whiter than the whitest of rice, Whiter than the cotton like clouds of the sky.
What a beautiful day! Snow was falling before the sun rose this morning and continued till well after lunch ❄️ So we checked on all the features at the Nursery, fed all the animals and took a Snow Day!
Well the new year is off and running 🏃♀️ It went from 75 degrees with a south wind yesterday to 23 degrees, high wind and snow today… But, thats life in West TN 😊 We got a LOT done in the house today. All the Holiday deco put away for the year and the house looks ready for Spring. We had a great late morning brunch…
Followed by one of my wife’s favorites for dinner 🍲
Not a bad start to the year if you ask me 💥
“January is here, with eyes that keenly glow, A frost-mailed warrior striding a shadowy steed of snow.” ~ Edgar Fawcett
Well I got up this morning to a still cold, mostly white, snow covered world. But today the wind is out of the south and the temperature is getting up above 50 today, so I expect to see some grass and bare areas before the day is out. It’s been over a week of being mainly trapped in the house, below zero wind chills, frozen pipes, BAD roads, Storm damage, etc… I feel ready for Spring…
In another way, its been so beautiful… We have gotten to spend some quality time together and I will miss that part of being trapped inside together 😊 I haven’t watched the news or read the paper or even payed attention to the outside world…
But, the snow is melting… This week is warming up, we will be in the 60’s by midweek! Which will bring a whole different experience that we may not be ready for either…
“There’s a patch of old snow in a corner That I should have guessed Was a blow-away paper the rain Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if Small print overspread it, The news of a day I’ve forgotten — If I ever read it.”
We don’t get “BIG” snow like this very often… Thank God! So many aren’t prepared for it! Power goes out, heat goes out, no water, etc, etc… I myself even lost one of my main greenhouses from the sheer weight of the snow… But, today I’m gonna try to focus on the Beauty of it all. Much of it from my window 😊 Its COLD out there 🥶
I just thought I would share a few pictures of what I think is a Beautiful, Winter Landscape. The “Entertainment of the day” the last few days has been sitting in front of the French doors and watching the birds eat the seed we’ve been throwing out. Even our dogs are glued to the ‘Theater of Life’ that’s just on the other side of the glass.
I just LOVE my Waterfalls and my Pond! And I get to enjoy the beauty year round! All 4 seasons bring something special to my life. This bitter cold and snow is rough, in one way, but in another it brings extreme beauty to my door! It’s not safe to be out on the roads right now, but here in my Landscape… It’s all good 😊
I hope this morning finds you safe and warm! It’s very cold 🥶 out there… But seeing my ‘Winter Wonderland’ somehow makes it better… More beautiful. More bearable… And I know that this is really the foothills of the coming Spring! And I am ready!
Having a Waterfall Feature in your backyard truly gives you 4 seasons of interest. Each season brings its own magic 🪄 late yesterday evening this little video was taken of my own personal Waterfall. I LOVE every season, but the ice sculptures of Winter ❄️ are just plain Magical!
I hope this video brought a little Zen to your morning!😊
A good old fashioned ICE Storm ⛈ is what we woke to this morning! Not as bad as predicted, thank the Lord! We’ve had to endure weeks with no heat before from bad ones and let me tell you, it’s not fun! But the stone walks all are slick with ice and impassable, So is my driveway! Therefore, we were forced to close today… So, we got that goin for us 😊!
Snow days are always fun days! Snowballs, snowmen, sledding, 4 wheeling, snow cream, ahhhhh the good old Snow Daze!!! But an Ice Day? What do you do for fun on an Ice Day? In my humble opinion, Ice Days are the crappiest of all days off due to weather…
BUT, there are some beautiful views and pictures to be had…
I just thought of the perfect Ice Day activity…. A Big, Fat, NAP! 😴 💤
Y’all have fun 😊
ICE STORM –
“Icy rain comes with a crinkling sound Like little silver coins falling on grounds Tree limbs covered with translucent ice Channels of pure white gleaming calm.
In icy storm proud oak to earth stumbles Aromatic bushes are much more humble Intact is the grace of their ice laden veins Bowing in reverence for mighty Rummager.
In opaque sunlight plump scarlet berries And metallic ice enhanced the olive curves Of bent bushes like crimson cheeks and skin Luminous adorn a maiden’s clandestine arc.
Power outage, phone and Internet gone Forget about connecting to world for fun Ponder upon slavery of new convenience And think of sustaining with bare essentials.
but who would remember the deadly storm In morning light the heart merrily romps Transient is the wondrous beauty of icicles Pain and glee of nature such as don’t last.”

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring- And that old tune is right on the money today! WOW what a storm! 40+ mile an hour winds too… But the kicker comes tonight!
This is so true! The weather is changing today! Thunder storms and high winds with temps in the upper 50’s will change over the next several hours to an ice and snow mix with temps in the LOW 20’s! 😲
I think one of the most important things to remember is our pets. The temps are gonna go LOW & will stay that way for several nights – and they will need a little shelter.
We’re gonna be cold for the next couple weeks. Don’t forget – If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
