Sunday Reflections…

Turn off the TV, lay down the smart phone, relax your mind for a little while… I’ve been reflecting on things lately. My life, family, country, God. I for one feel blessed! I am proud to be an American! I took this picture last night as we watched the sunset. Old Glory speaks volumes if you’ll listen…

I want to take a minute and say how thankful I am to be an American! No other country on the face of the earth affords us the rights and privileges that we have as Americans. Stand up! Speak your mind! Hold your ground! God Bless America! 🇺🇸

God bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.

Peace,

Sunday Reflections…

Sunday morning report –

The garden is growing like gangbusters! Vegetables as well as flowers 🌺 As the days get longer and longer it’s tough for me to ever actually make it in the house 😊 But, as soon as I get in there in the a/c… sleep comes quickly. I Love ❤️ it!

I’m enjoying my hanging baskets and flowers 🌺 this season! I’ve created a “plant wall” of sorts to give me more shade and more privacy. I ❤️ It!

I’m enjoying the quiet sunrise all by my little lonesome 😊 But here in a few, I’m gonna fix breakfast for everyone… Then, I’m gonna spend the rest of the morning finishing up my planting! Boy how I love Sunday gardening!

“What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer, the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months, and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade.”

     ~ Gertrude Jekyll

Have a great Sunday!

Sunday Reflections…

What a beautiful morning! Warm with a light breeze, the tree pollen is down a bit too. Perfect Sunday morning in May!

I’m getting my Garden in order this weekend. I love the month of May!

I really start planting in earnest when May arrives. Frost is behind us & the garden is calling… The whole world is alive and thriving now 😊 It feels so nice! I’m going back inside to have breakfast, then it’s on!

“May and June.  Soft syllables, gentle names for the two best months in the garden year: cool, misty mornings gently burned away with a warming spring sun, followed by breezy afternoons and chilly nights.  The discussion of philosophy is over; it’s time for work to begin.”
  ~ Peter Loewer

Have a great Sunday!

Sunday Reflections…

Sunday morning is my favorite morning to grab a cup of coffee and get outside! This morning the birds were singing up a storm & there was still a good breeze blowing. Last night was more of a gale force wind 💨 LOTS of plants to stand up at the nursery 😊

Like most late April’s, we have been sunny and warm one day to cool and raining the next… Tonight looks like we are getting down into the upper 30’s 🥶 But, that’s April in Tennessee! Can you say “Blackberry Winter”!

When the Wisteria and the Blackberries are blooming, expect a cold snap. The old folks call it Blackberry Winter 🥶

“The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You’re one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
a cloud come over the sunlit arch,
And wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you’re two months back in the middle of March.”
   ~ Robert Frost

Have a Blessed Sunday!

Sunday Reflections…

A cool, light rain was falling this morning so I grabbed a hot cup of coffee and set outside for a little while. Time always goes by pretty quick for me, but it seems like lately, It literally Flies by! It seems I’ve blinked my eyes and were over half way through April! I’m not complaining, I just want to make sure that I am spending it wisely! Not wasting it! Because I know you can never get it back…
I guess I’m trying to savor it, like this hot coffee on a cold morning.

“Time is passing : not leaden stepping
But sprinting on winged feet,
Quick silver slipping by.”
 ~ Richard L. Ratliff

Time flies by us… We have to learn to savor every moment.

Have a great Sunday morning!

Sunday Reflections… He is Risen ✝️

Happy Easter Morning! He is Risen!

Mark 16 –

Jesus has risen!

1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.
2Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb
3 and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”
4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.
7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’

Have a blessed, reflective day. ✝️

“Blessed are those who have not seen and have yet believed.”

Sunday Reflections…

Today is Palm Sunday. 🌴🙏🏻

“Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

This is a great day to read about it – Start with Matthew 21:1-11. Lots more to read about the progression that lead to this day. The timeline is Amazing!

“No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown.”

  ~ William Penn

Blessings, Peace and Love to all ❤️

Sunday Reflections…

Bad storm last night! Tornado sirens, heavy winds, hail, lightning, thunder, etc, etc… Scary!
But this morning – Beautiful sunrise! Calm winds, the birds 🐦 are singing! Gorgeous!

Up with the sun! It’s time to get outside & see what’s happening in the garden. Spring is Here! The whole world is coming to life!

I guess my point on this beautiful Sunday morning is – When this storm ⛈ (Coronavirus) gets past us, we are in for something nice! We just have to ride it out… The Calm after the storm …

I’m approaching everyday one step at a time! Today’s plan –

  •  Breakfast 🥞
  • Work on my Container Garden
  • Shower
  • Nap!
  • Fire up Grill
  • Eat
  •  Guitar 🎸
  • Early to Bed!

“I am tired, I am worn
For this is the calm after the storm
Heart beat ceases to race
Everything seems to fall into place
Take comfort in cycles and patterns,
Separate the insignificant from what matters
History repeats itself they say,
The universe works in funny ways
So push thoughts of growing older,
Of growing colder, of forgetting to be bolder
To the back of my mind
Shelved away somewhere difficult to find
And think instead of stories that turn out okay
Think of the sound of waves and rainy days
For I am slowly breathing
Almost sleeping
Nearly dreaming
Simply being.“

Sunday Reflections…

Everyone slept in this morning… Everyone but me 😊 I went out and walked around the gardens. I say it often, but it’s so true – Spring is coming! Bulbs and perennials are emerging and even blooming. Forsythias are blooming. My saucer Magnolia is fixing to burst open too. The maple 🍁 buds are swelling, the quince too. It’s a magical, time of the year to be a gardener. But, it’s not quite here yet… The waiting and anticipation of full on Spring is powerful! Can you say “Spring Fever” 🤒 I’m going back inside & cooking breakfast 🥞 That’ll have to do.

“Every gardener knows that under the cloak of winter lies a miracle … a seed waiting to sprout, a bulb opening to the light, a bud straining to unfurl.  And the anticipation nurtures our dream.”
–  Barbara Winkler

These particular daffodils were planted by my grandma and always bring happy thoughts to me. They say “Spring is almost here”…

Have a Great Sunday! Spring is Coming!

Sunday Reflections…

What a beautiful morning! Sunny ☀️ with a bluebird sky. It’s Groundhog Day & I saw my shadow… You know what that means, yep, I need to loose a few pounds 😮

If ground-hog day was bright and fair,
The beast came forth, but not to stay;
His shadow turned him to his lair,
Where six weeks more, he dormant lay
Secure in subterranean hold—
So wondrous weatherwise was he—
Against six weeks of ice and cold,
Which, very certain, there would be…
~H.L. Fisher, “Popular Superstitions,”

I may have seen my shadow, but old Punxsutawney Phil did not! What does that mean? Well, if you trust the worlds most famous rodent prognosticator, it means Spring is coming early!!! Boom 💥 What have I been saying – Spring IS Coming! 💐🍾🌈

Ok, back in the real 🌎 I have a game to prepare for! My team didn’t make it this year  (❤️ Titans) so I’m rooting for the Chiefs… The hard parts gonna be finding Super Bowl snacks that help slim my shadow 😎

Groundhog Day made me think about MY shadow… I guess it’s Crudité for Super Bowl snacks 😊

Have a great day! Go Chiefs! And here’s to an early Spring!
