WOW! Summer is right around the corner! And with the Summer season comes our Annual Parade of Ponds Tours. We are hosting 3 separate Pond Tours this year and each one will be unique and each one will host it’s own Photo Contest! I hope that you will all take part and have a lot of fun in the process! It’s FREE and you can win some $$…

Last years Photo Contest was FUN. We had photos of pets, wildlife, nature, children playing, people relaxing and of course waterfalls, flowers and insects. It was delightful to see what interests people have. I know this year you will have tons of great photo opportunities to capture with the click of your shutter or the push of a button. Children, parents and grandparents can all enter the contest. There are so many beautiful settings to capture that perfect shot of your child or family members. Bring your friends along and get some great shots taken together. What better way to preserve the beauty of nature than to capture it on film. With settings like these it is nearly impossible not to create breath taking pictures. I take photos regularly, then I can look back year to year and see how much the gardens have matured. We have literally watched trees grow and Waterfalls grow moss thru captured photographs.
I hope you enjoy this summer on the Pond Tours & remember, each ticket purchased supports the Jackson Madison County Humane Society, so ticket holders hold more than just a ticket. They hold the chance to help a worthy cause and to spend the day with Friends, Family and a World of Beauty.

EACH CATEGORY WILL HAVE A WINNER and each WINNER will receive a $50 Gift Certificate.

Hummingbirds are Back!

The Hummingbirds are back at the Carter House! I was “Buzzed” by 3 of my little friends yesterday evening and I am Happy. I LOVE my Hummingbirds! As of now, I have 4 feeders out and they are coming in for the season. Heads up!

Organic Gardening is easier than ever!

It’s that time again folks. Time to get your Vegetable Garden in order! And lots of people are getting on the ‘Organic’ road to Gardening.

I get so many questions about What to use and How to get started with Organics in the Garden. So here is a short and simple way to get started this Spring.

– Start with the Soil!
Get out there and clean out those weeds& grasses(mulch em’ into the Compost Pile!), crank up the tiller and break the ground. Till in some Organic Soil Amendments like – Composted Chicken Manure, Mushroom Compost & Worm Castings. If you have a Compost Pile, use your GREAT Homemade Compost for sure! A little lime will help & I always add some Epsom Salts, esp. to my Tomato beds!
By building you soil like this, you will set the stage for healthy, vigorous growth. You won’t have to apply any chemical fertilizers either.

– Feed your Plants Organically!
Start a program of feeding your plants Organically with Compost Tea and Fish Emulsions. You talk about Growth! They will blow you away! You can also side dress your plants with Composted Manure and Worm Castings. Works Great!

You can also buy Certified Organic Seeds for your Vegetables and Flowers. This makes all the difference in my opinion.

Come by the Nursery with any questions you have and we will help you. I have all these Organic Products available here at Carter’s Nursery.

If you do these few things you will be on your way to a Healthier, more Organic friendly lifestyle. You will be outside in your Garden and will reap all the benefits that your labors provide.
