This is an Awesome Waterfall!! I normally post videos of Waterfalls that we designed & built, but this week I wanted to share this one. This Pond is located at the headquarters of my distributor of Pond Filters & Supplies in Chicagoland, Illinois. This Waterfall even has a cave/grotto behind it!

On a recent trip to the ‘Chicago Land’ area I went by one of our favorite old places with my son. We have been going up there for 20+ years for training events and for many years the dates fell on our wedding anniversary. So by accident we found this old joint and just fell in Love with it!
This is the way it was at Capone’s Hideaway & Steakhouse. It goes way way back to old AL’s time in the roaring 20’s & 30’s. He literally used this as a Hideout from the law back in the day…
Jo & I looked forward to having dinner here for many years. We loved the atmosphere & the stories of its heyday when it was a ‘speakeasy’ during prohibition times. They used to make beer and liquor in a chicken coop behind the place and pipe it in through copper pipes underground… The pipes are still buried there by the way 😎
This is what the place looks like today… The building has been condemned and at this point, is just a memory.
It was very disappointing to see what has happened to this place… For several years now there have been rumors that it was being remodeled and would be open again. But, the city condemned the structure & apparently it will soon be a thing of the past. I took my son by to see what was happening to the place and as you see, nothing good😞 The only nice thing left is the view of the beautiful Fox River…
Capone’s is right on the Fox River. It’s about 40 miles outside Chicago. Imagine how far out in the country this place would have been back in the 20’s… No wonder he hid out here. It would have been impossible to find this joint.
This is just a rambling memory of a place and time that’s long gone… But still fresh in my memory 😊

Feeding my Koi everyday is a big part of my Zen! It’s become a ritual and it really helps keep me centered. I also LOVE turtles! So when I visit Aqualand each year for our yearly certification training, their Indoor Turtle Pond is one of my favorite things to visit! I took my son Jacob with me this year and he fell in love with the turtles (of course) & now wants an indoor turtle pond of his own 😊 Jacob has pet turtles 🐢 and has his whole life. His turtles are outdoor and spend the winter buried up Hibernating. We will look into the idea of an Indoor Pond and see what happens 😊
Have you ever fed a turtle by hand? They love veggies, insects, worms & these Koi snacks too 😊

Most every Friday I blog about the radio show I do with the 180 Crew at WNWS 101.5fm. Friday’s between 9-11am we talk outdoor living, gardening, Koi Ponds and the like. But, this Friday I am not in the studio with Dan & Sea Bass… I will be calling in between 8:30 and 9am to give a report from the road.

This year is extra special to me personally because I brought my son, Jacob Carter with me to take part in classes and training for the 1st. time! He is working in the family business now and wants to learn!
Jacob is one of the youngest guys here for training. He is a much better student than I was at his age 😊 I’m a Proud papa!
I will give a full report next week on all the goings on in the big city and all the new technology that’s available 😉

I like to set goals and meet them! I also like to mark Milestones… Today is the 600th day that I have turned out a daily blog! Whew! It sure doesn’t seem like it’s been that long… Time flies! And – Yes, I have been having Fun! 😊
When I committed to a daily Blog it was a HUGE step! And at first it was a real challenge, but it seems to get easier and more fun the longer I keep the commitment 😊
As many of you know, I started blogging in 2008, but not daily… more weekly and monthly, AND I haven’t missed a month since 2008! But, It wasn’t until January 1st 2018 that I made the decision to blog daily. Now, it’s just part of what I do… And, my blog has developed some daily themes that I hope you like…
Mondays are a video of a stream and/or Waterfall, usually one that we built, and it’s titled “Monday Morning Moment of Zen”…
Tuesdays and Thursdays are my ‘freelance days’… lately I have been doing my Blog or Vlog On Outdoor Living, focusing on Outdoor Lifestyle Areas (Spaces, patios, outdoor kitchens,outdoor rooms, etc.).
Wednesday (Hump Day) Is ALL about Waterfalls! And – KOI!
Fridays I do a Local Talk Radio Show (The ‘180’ with Dan Reaves & Sea Bass) and I follow the show up with a Blog about what was covered. I call it – The “Friday Radio Report”.
Saturdays I try to Blog about the my Nursery. What’s HOT, Events that are happening and, what is going on in & around the garden.
Sundays Blog is called “Sunday Reflections…” Sunday is a day of rest, reflection and time with my family. I try to share a inspirational thought, poem or story.
