Well I got up this morning to a still cold, mostly white, snow covered world. But today the wind is out of the south and the temperature is getting up above 50 today, so I expect to see some grass and bare areas before the day is out. It’s been over a week of being mainly trapped in the house, below zero wind chills, frozen pipes, BAD roads, Storm damage, etc… I feel ready for Spring…

In another way, its been so beautiful… We have gotten to spend some quality time together and I will miss that part of being trapped inside together 😊 I haven’t watched the news or read the paper or even payed attention to the outside world…
But, the snow is melting… This week is warming up, we will be in the 60’s by midweek! Which will bring a whole different experience that we may not be ready for either…

“There’s a patch of old snow in a corner
That I should have guessed
Was a blow-away paper the rain
Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if
Small print overspread it,
The news of a day I’ve forgotten —
If I ever read it.”
~ Robert Frost
Have a Blessed Sunday! 🙏🏻

Good morning! Light snow is falling, its 7 degrees and most importantly, its Waterfall Wednesday! I think I will share a seasonal view of my Waterfall today!

I post pictures from every season with my Waterfall and stream as the subject, and each season brings something special and different. It’s too bad to drive on the roads right now, so I hope #Waterfallwednesday bring us all a little joy.
Stay warm!

I just LOVE my Waterfalls and my Pond! And I get to enjoy the beauty year round! All 4 seasons bring something special to my life. This bitter cold and snow is rough, in one way, but in another it brings extreme beauty to my door! It’s not safe to be out on the roads right now, but here in my Landscape… It’s all good 😊
I hope this morning finds you safe and warm! It’s very cold 🥶 out there… But seeing my ‘Winter Wonderland’ somehow makes it better… More beautiful. More bearable… And I know that this is really the foothills of the coming Spring! And I am ready!
Be careful out there!

Our first snow ❄️ came a bit early this year! Pre-Thanksgiving snow is a rareity in the South for sure 😊 But don’t let it get you down! I try to enjoy the blessings and the opportunity’s as they come!
Snow is very beneficial for our gardens too! Just a few things that snow does –
- Snow brings nutrients to the soil! (Free Fertilizer!) – Nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur & more are captured in the snowfall and are then slowly released into the soil as it melts.
- Snow ❄️ is a wonderful blanket that insulates and protects the soil and many plants from freezing damage.
- Snow helps to recharge our groundwater!
- Snow gives US a break from the garden too😇

Snowy weather brings the birds to your feeders! They come all day to eat, to get a drink and even bathe. I LOVE to photograph birds in our landscape and at our feeders. | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

The snow has completely melted now… Up until late last night there was still a little bit and I thought it might be “waiting around on some more” 🙂 But, no such luck… I love Spring & Summer! But I also LOVE the beauty of Winter & the snow! I also LOVE the anticipation of Spring that the melting of the snow brings 🙂

Here is my beautiful, blooming Water Garden in Summer. Your welcome to come by and see it during business hours at Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Here is the same Water Garden in Winter. No blooms, but still BEAUTIFUL! |Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN
I Do a Spring/Summer & Fall Water Garden/Pond tour every year. I’ve always wanted to do a Winter Pond/Garden tour too… BUT, I don’t know if it’s possible? To many risk factors perhaps. In any case, I hope you enjoy these pictures and this short video of the Pond.
Happy Pondering!

We just got a present from mother nature – a 6″ snow on top of a base layer of ice! So most of us are stuck at home… BUT, I can still enjoy my Pond! Ponds are great because even in the Winter on a snowy day you find great beauty and abundant life all around! The birds and flowing water truly feed my soul. Here are a few pictures to enjoy. Imagine looking out your window and seeing one like this in your own backyard!
Thanks & Happy Pondering!
