Today is a special day! In more ways than 1⦠Today, every American should remember the D-Day Invasion of WWII, June 6, 1944. That was the day that Allied forces invaded northern France by means of beach landings in Normandy. My grandfathers unit was there (Omaha Beach) and I have always felt a sense of pride and gratitude knowing what all those great men did for us šŗšø

The other thing that makes this a very special day is that today is my moms birthday! A very special day indeed! š

You canāt send mom a Facebook Birthday message, because sheās not on Facebook š BUT, she does read my BLOG ⦠So feel free to drop a HB comment here if youād like to. Iāll make sure she gets it
Thanks mom for all you do! You are a linchpin! You hold it all together and make it all work. I donāt know what I would do without you
Happy Birthday Mom! š I Love You! ā¤ļø
āThoughtful lady, that works so hard,
Always been there, my dear lifeguard.
Places others before herself,
Proud of pictures on her shelf.
When in pain, maintains her smile,
Multi-tasking, sheās versatile.
With all of this; time she finds,
Her love for us, constantly reminds.
On her birthday, just want to say,
I donāt know how, I will repay?
Eternally grateful, I hope she will see,
The greatest mother, she will always be.ā

I was thinking/reflecting this morning while I sipped my coffee about the passage of time and the seasons. As winter slowly moves into spring, it feels like warmer weather will never arrive. Then boom š„ itās June again⦠Time is so funny! I guess the old wisdom holds true, time is fleeting⦠The only real time is Now!

“This is June, the month of grass and leaves . . . already the aspens are trembling again,Ā and a new summer is offered me.Ā I feel a little fluttered in my thoughts, as if I might be tooĀ late.Ā Each season is but an infinitesimal point.Ā It no sooner comes than it is gone.Ā It hasĀ no duration.Ā It simply gives a tone and hue to my thought.Ā Each annual phenomena isĀ reminiscence and prompting.Ā Our thoughts and sentiments answer to the revolutionĀ of the seasons, as two cog-wheels fit into each other.Ā We are conversant with only oneĀ point of contact at a time, from which we receive a prompting and impulse and instantlyĀ pass to a new season or point of contact.Ā A year is made up of a certain series andĀ number of sensations and thoughts which have their language in nature.Ā Now I amĀ ice, now I am sorrel.Ā Each experience reduces itself to a mood of the mind.”
– Henry David Thoreau,Ā Journal, June 6, 1857

Well itās official, the Summertime season is upon us! Yes, itās Memorial Day Weekend šŗšø This is the weekend that we kick it off for Summer – boating, grilling, pools, etc. This is a very Important Day/Weekend for our country as wellā¦

Memorial Day honors and mourns our brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country! Its our duty to remember that all this happiness and freedom that we enjoy comes from the blood and sacrifice of soldiers who fought and died for all our freedoms! And its our duty to teach this to our children and grandchildren⦠Freedom isnāt Free!

āBy the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to Aprilās breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set today a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
Spirit, that made those heroes dare
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and theeā
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

West Tn. weather is crazy, but still very seasonably predictable⦠The blackberries are in bloom once again & boom š„ here comes a cold front that drops the temps overnight. Cool and crisp this morning and it feels SO GOOD š I love me some āBlackberry Winterāā¦

Enjoy this day and this lovely little cold snap⦠knowing that soon, Summer Heat will be upon us! And, it will be time to pick blackberries once again š
āI see blackberry winter’s here
that very special time of year
when thorny vine’s small pure white bloom
announces colder weather’s doom.
It’s cold enough to wear long sleeves
to ward off spring’s last chilly breeze
yet warm enough up in the day
to show that cold won’t long hold sway.
The flower of this lowly berry
reminds that summer won’t long tarry.
This mini-season won’t last long
so don a coat and tag along.
We’ll both enjoy this evening’s nip
hands in each other’s loving grip
and gaze into each other’s eyes
as stars replace the clear blue skies.
As whippoorwill gives serenade
from ‘cross the pond in brushy glade
beneath a blanket we’ll start to plan
vacation on the ocean’s sand.
But in the back of cozy mind
all thoughts of winter left behind
tiny voices, soft and sweet
reminds that next comes summer heat.ā

Everyone is āBorn of Womanā, so everyone has a birth mother. Some of us are fortunate enough to have a Mom ā¤ļø A nurturer, giver, teacher⦠A person above & beyond all others in your life. I am blessed by the fact that I still have my Mom!

We are having Lunch together today š„
Proverbs 31:25:Ā “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”

I think this bible verse sums up a Mothers Love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7:Ā “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.Ā It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Ā Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.Ā It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
My wife is being celebrated today as well as my sister and many many great Moms that I know ā¤ļø
āMother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children.ā
~ William Makepeace Thackeray
Happy Motherās Day to ALL the Moms out there! What in the world would we have done without you! ā¤ļø
