Q: Do You Want Your Landscape & Garden Plants to Keep Performing into Late Summer & Fall?
We are past the 4th of July now and its getting HOT! Your plants and flowers have been doing great, but now they are looking a bit overgrown, and… Tired? I want my Flowering Plants and my veggies to keep on keeping on till frost! A question we get a lot at Carters Nursery is – What do I need to do to keep my Plants Performing through the dog days and into Fall? That is a great question to ask! I’ll show you what I use.

I use a lot of Fox Farm products in my Landscape and in my edible garden. In my opinion, Happy Frog Potting Soil is a must! It very balanced and has all the things you need – It is amended with soil microbes that help improve root efficiency and encourage nutrient uptake, as well as earthworm castings, bat guano, and aged forest products. I use it as a top dressing that i work into my garden soil, a potting medium and as a mulch in some annual beds. | Organic Potting Soil & Organic Fertilizers | Carters Nursery Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

We also carry a GREAT line of Liquid Fertilizers, as well as bagged Granular Fertilizers.

We even carry Soil Acidifiers, Garden Lime and Organic Pest Control products.
Come on out and get what your Garden and your Landscape needs to Thrive through the seasons!

Does the changing of the seasons change your entire world? If it does, you may be in a seasonal business… Or, you may just be a gardener 🪴

What a beautiful Sunday morning! A dense fog burned off into a gorgeous Sunny day! I for one won’t be wasting time inside watching TV 📺

My “Seasonal Sunday Office” is feeling pretty good 😌

“An altered look about the hills;
A Tyrian light the village fills;
A wider sunrise in the dawn;
A deeper twilight on the lawn;
A print of a vermilion foot;
A purple finger on the slope;
A flippant fly upon the pane;
A spider at his trade again;
An added strut in chanticleer;
A flower expected everywhere …”
~ Emily Dickinson, Nature : April
Have a happy day!

Saying goodbye to April is sad, BUT – Hello May! Here’s a reprint from May Day’s past…

In the old days as April rolled to an end, people would begin gathering flowers and candies and other goodies to put in May baskets to hang on the doors of friends, neighbors and loved ones on May 1, aka; May Day.
“May Day” can mean a few things – Like – Mayday, Mayday! ie; Help!!!
OR it could be an age old celebration of Spring moving into Summer – May Day dates way back to ancient times and is traditionally celebrated with dancing and singing and feasting and the like 🙂
In Hawaii May 1st. is called Lei Day 🌺 They eat traditional foods and celebrate Island culture. And yes, every one gets Lei’d! 🙂 Let’s go to Hawaii! 😊
But for me, May 1st. is the date that I use as my planting guide! It’s the date that I start planting in earnest. Annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, melons, etc.!!! It’s on!

May 1st. is a GREAT date to start planting Annuals, Perennials, Vegetables, Herbs, Aquatic Plants, Roses, etc. We are LOADED with Plants for you at Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN
We had a long Winter & a cool wet Spring so far, but fear not! May is where it all changes! 🙂 Happy “May Day” & a Happy Gardening Season!

Leaves are coming down! Get your mulching blades on your mower ready!

The mulching blades have numerous teeth across the top side of the blade so as the grass is cut, the top of the mower blade then shreds the clippings vs standard mower blades which are designed to push the clippings outward into a collection bag. We are going to extend “Fishy Friday’s” the month of November!

For the next few weeks every Friday is a “Fishy Friday”! That means all of the fish you purchase are at a 20% discount! TGIFF! | Carter’s Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN
