Bill Way passed this morning. Rest In Peace my friend!

This is a message from Bills daughter posted to Facebook this morning  –

“At 6:52 am on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, daddy peacefully left us here on earth to be reunited with his mom and dad in Heaven. I know Cody, their beloved border collie, will be jumping with joy to see him again.

We will miss you more than you know, but the love you showed us throughout our lives here on earth will be forever in our hearts. We’ve made memories that will last a lifetime. We know just how proud you were of your kids and grandkids. We will continue to make you proud in the years to come.

We share a love of weather and always have. I will look for you in rainbows and, of course, thunderstorms since that’s what we love most. ❤️

I love you, daddy! I can’t wait to see you again.”

– God Bless this family! Pray for their comfort and peace during this emotional time.

Rest In Peace my friend. What a life you lived 😊

Love you Bill ❤️

Sunday Reflections…

Here we are, past Thanksgiving & “Black Friday” and Christmas is coming fast. BUT, Sometimes life steps in and slows things down for you & gives you something to truly reflect upon…

Last night I found out a great friend has been diagnosed with terminal cancer… This was completely out of the blue & a shock to all that know him. I am talking about local radio & TV man Bill Way.

Bills newest show is called ‘Medium Cool’, but we all know that Bill is the Coolest! I have spent every Friday with him the last 12+ years talking about Outdoor Living, Koi Ponds, Plants, Animals and so much more. He is a special person! Please say a prayer for Bill Way and his family.

Here’s an excerpt about Bill from the paper –

“We are sad to inform talk radio legend Bill Way has broadcast his final show, according to a Facebook post by his daughter Kristen.

She cited Nov. 16 as the day of his final show. Since then, he’s been diagnosed with a mass on his pancreas and spots on his liver.

Way has been released into hospice care after spending the past week at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

“While he isn’t in any pain, please pray for peace and comfort in the days ahead,” Mason said in her post.

Way had just returned to local radio waves with his new Bill Way Show “Medium Cool” on 93.1 WTJS-FM.

Bill Way is 74 years old.”
– Information provided by Brandon Shields of the Jackson Sun. Please keep Bill and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I hugged my family a little longer last night… Life is so fragile and can change on a dime.  I definitely have a Lot to be Thankful for! And I have a Lot to reflect on too. Go hug the ones you love and spend time with them today. Time is all we have to share.

– A Poem About Time

Time is slow, time is fast.
It never stops, but it always lasts.
It’s time for bed, it’s time for school.
To waste your time is to be a fool.

If the time is right, the timing will be perfect.
Having the time of your life will always be worth it.
Some spend their time mad,
Some spend their time sad.
For some people time is all they ever had.

Some spend their time and some people save it.
Some love wasting time and some people hate it.
People waste time being in jail
People waste time being mad when they fail.

Some people have lots of time to spare.
Others spend their time not having a care.
It’s time to stop, it’s time to go.
Time can move fast or it can move slow.

You can lose yourself or lose your mind,
But as life goes on you will never lose time.

Peace, ❤️ & Prayers for Bill Way & his family.

I love you Bill!

Never Forget! #neverforget! 9/11/2001 – 2,977 Remembered!

Thinking about this hit me pretty hard today. I remember it like it was yesterday. My wife was pregnant with our son and she was working at the mall when the towers came down. She was so scared when we spoke on the phone… We all thought this could be the beginning of the end… She came home as did I. We went to the store together and got enough grocery’s for probably 2 weeks 🙂 Kroger’s was PACKED! So was the gas station! Then we came home and hunkered down not knowing what to expect…

Thank God and our Countries leaders that we made it through and past that awful day! But we can NEVER FORGET! 2,977 Americans died there that day! #neverforget

Thank God for all our firefighters that worked so hard and saved so many lives that day! So many didn’t make it… 9/11 was the single worst/deadliest day for firefighters in the history of our country! 343 firefighters died that day! While everyone was running out, they were running in and saving lives! Thank a Firefighter today!

Local radio is BIG for my family. This was great coverage of that day from a local level. LIVE radio! Here is a link to the recorded radio program from that morning by my good friend Bill Way. I will #neverforget ! http://billwayshow.libsyn.com/the-91101-show#OoeJIyV0leTqC9Mf.01

Read this great poem by a girl in the 7th grade. This lets you know that our people are strong and we will make it no matter what!

We’re Still Standing

by Hannah Schoechert, 7th grade student

“Those twin towers
Standing tall with pride,
Fell with grieving hearts.
Stunned, America cried.

But we’re still standing.

Bin Laden tried
To crush our land,
But we stood our ground
With our flag in hand.

And we’re still standing.

Red for valor
And the blood that fell.
White for purity
Our heroes tell.
Blue for the justice
That will be done,
Proving once more
These colors don’t run.

And we’re still standing.”

Not only did we make it through, we came out stronger than before. God Bless America! We can Never Forget what happened that day and why! #neverforget!

A legend retires & a tradition lives on!

Today was a special day. A sad day for many. But definitely a special day! Our favorite talk radio guru, Bill Way, hung up the headphones and retired from his daily show “It’s Your Turn with Bill Way” on 101,5FM in Jackson, Tn.

Bill has been involved in the media business for over 50 years & hosted this show for the last 24 years at this station. During a three-month sabbatical, Bill and his wife, Susan, enjoyed traveling around the country together. In a note to management Bill wrote, “For the first time in our entire married life we can do whatever we want to do whenever we want to do it… I welcome the tremendous opportunities the coming years will bring.” With a touch of nostalgia, Bill added; “What a run we had.”

Larry Wood, station manager stated: “Bill Way’s service to the community on News/Talk 101.5 FM is greatly appreciated, and we wish Bill and Susan much enjoyment in the years ahead.”

I met Bill many years ago when he and his wife Susan attended one of our charity Pond Tours. They loved the sound and beauty of the Water Gardens so much that they decided to get one of their own! I helped him to get everything set up and running smoothly & he enjoyed his new Water Garden so much that he invited me to visit the show to talk all about his new found hobby. I had never done radio like this before – completely caller driven, talk radio! Kinda scary…. &  WOW! The boards were jammed the entire show with LOTS of callers hungry for information about this hobby that Bill enthusiastically described as only he could 🙂 So he invited me to come back. And the next show was AWESOME and the boards were JAMMED the entire show again! So he invited me to come back again the next Friday…. AND on & on it went, every Friday for over 12 years! Bill & I talked about everything from Koi Ponds and Pondless Waterfalls to moles, crepe myrtles, hummingbirds & how to cook the ultimate roasted Roma tomatoes! I don’t know if there is any subject to do with gardening & outdoor living that we didn’t cover? WHAT A BLAST I have had working and sharing with our community with this man!

Bill’s talk radio show “It’s Your Turn with Bill Way” was the #1 show for over 2 decades in West TN.

Hats off and Congratulation’s to my main man Bill Way! What a run indeed sir! We should all be so lucky! Thanks for so much entertainment and friendship these past many years! You will be missed!

PS: I will be continuing to do the Friday gardening segment with Dan Reaves from 10-11am. So please continue to tune in! AND please continue to call in LIVE with ALL your gardening & outdoor living questions every Friday!

Peace & Love!
