All I can say is ”What a beautiful morning”! I think every bird in the world is singing the song of Spring! Ive been up and out since early… Coffee ☕️ ✔️ Breakfast ✔️ Watering ✔️ … We have moved pottery a bit and potted some things up as well. Its mid-morning break time, so I thought I would write this little blog and fix some homemade Lemonade 🍋 Nothing tastes as good as a fresh glass of sweet lemonade on a spring morning.

I just Love Spring!
“It’s lemonade in a cardboard cup between the legs of a freshly tanned, sunglass wearing, brown eyed girl. It’s a white Jeep, blaring Enrique loud.
It’s the sweat beneath the dark curls. It’s the country song that brings tears to your eyes. It’s the lessons learned, the mistakes made. It’s the future ahead, bright and beautiful. It’s the laughter, memories. It’s the good things in life.
It’s Spring.
~ Alixis Russell
I’ll see y’all in the house about dark:30…

I had to put my jacket on this morning when I walked outside with my 1st cup of coffee 🥶 It was a little chilly… BUT, it’s supposed to get up to 78 degrees this afternoon 🌞 Great news! A little more great news, we have ‘probably’ gotten passed our last frost! Can you say Spring Planting Time!

I’m heading back inside to make another pot of coffee and fix some breakfast… Then its on!

My advice is to get out and enjoy this beautiful day! 🌞
“The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You’re one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
a cloud come over the sunlit arch,
And wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you’re two months back in the middle of March.”
~ Robert Frost
Have a great Sunday!

Were you early to church this morning? Or, were you more like me and actually set your clocks ahead like we were supposed to, only to have to drag your butt out of bed 🛏 Springing forward ain’t easy!

As I watch the snow melt this morning, Spring is in the air! And in a week, it will be official 😊 I am so ready for longer evenings, flowers, boating season and homegrown tomato’s 🍅.
“In spring when maple buds are red,
We turn the clock an hour ahead;
Which means, each April that arrives,
We lose an hour out of our lives.
Who cares? When autumn birds in flocks
Fly southward, back we turn the clocks,
And so regain a lovely thing
That missing hour we lost in spring.”

We are 2 weeks from the time change. We “Spring forward” Sunday March the 13th at 2am! Then only a week after that BOOM 💥 1st day of Spring! Rain and more rain 🌧 Wind 💨 Ice 🧊 Snow ❄️ – But still, Spring is Coming! This lingering winter weather and slow build up and transition is always what causes my Spring Fever 🌼 🤒 🌼

If nothing else, this energy for Spring gets me up and moving! Its Sunday and I’ve already done a full days work! 😊 The week ahead looks promising! I have a LOT of work to catch up on!
Even the Psalmist writes of a yearning in the scriptures – “I yearn for the Lord, more than watchmen do for the morning, yes, more than watchmen do for the morning.” ~ Psalm 130:6
Spring is Coming!
“Is the Spring coming?” he said. “What is it like?”… “It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine”…
~ Frances Hodgson Burnett

Does the changing of the seasons change your entire world? If it does, you may be in a seasonal business… Or, you may just be a gardener 🪴

What a beautiful Sunday morning! A dense fog burned off into a gorgeous Sunny day! I for one won’t be wasting time inside watching TV 📺

My “Seasonal Sunday Office” is feeling pretty good 😌

“An altered look about the hills;
A Tyrian light the village fills;
A wider sunrise in the dawn;
A deeper twilight on the lawn;
A print of a vermilion foot;
A purple finger on the slope;
A flippant fly upon the pane;
A spider at his trade again;
An added strut in chanticleer;
A flower expected everywhere …”
~ Emily Dickinson, Nature : April
Have a happy day!

Yes! March is the 1st Month of Spring 💐 It’s also the month we “Spring Forward”, which I actually love ❤️ because I like to stay outside in the evenings after work… I know there are no more hours or time in the day, BUT, it’s always so nice to have the evenings back! March 1st is the 60th day of the year… And now is when the Magic starts to happen! The Daffodils and many other early Spring bulbs start blooming, along with other harbingers of the season like the ‘Yellow Bell’ Forsythia, Quince, Oriental Magnolias and so many other native trees and shrubs… We are entering the most exciting time of the year!

There’s only one thing that Spring brings that I don’t like…

Oh well… Ya’ gotta take the good with the bad sometimes! 😊
Have a good one!

What a beautiful morning! Warm with a light breeze, the tree pollen is down a bit too. Perfect Sunday morning in May!
I really start planting in earnest when May arrives. Frost is behind us & the garden is calling… The whole world is alive and thriving now 😊 It feels so nice! I’m going back inside to have breakfast, then it’s on!
“May and June. Soft syllables, gentle names for the two best months in the garden year: cool, misty mornings gently burned away with a warming spring sun, followed by breezy afternoons and chilly nights. The discussion of philosophy is over; it’s time for work to begin.”
~ Peter Loewer

Saying goodbye to April is sad, BUT – Hello May! Here’s a reprint from May Day’s past…

In the old days as April rolled to an end, people would begin gathering flowers and candies and other goodies to put in May baskets to hang on the doors of friends, neighbors and loved ones on May 1, aka; May Day.
“May Day” can mean a few things – Like – Mayday, Mayday! ie; Help!!!
OR it could be an age old celebration of Spring moving into Summer – May Day dates way back to ancient times and is traditionally celebrated with dancing and singing and feasting and the like 🙂
In Hawaii May 1st. is called Lei Day 🌺 They eat traditional foods and celebrate Island culture. And yes, every one gets Lei’d! 🙂 Let’s go to Hawaii! 😊
But for me, May 1st. is the date that I use as my planting guide! It’s the date that I start planting in earnest. Annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, melons, etc.!!! It’s on!

May 1st. is a GREAT date to start planting Annuals, Perennials, Vegetables, Herbs, Aquatic Plants, Roses, etc. We are LOADED with Plants for you at Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN
We had a long Winter & a cool wet Spring so far, but fear not! May is where it all changes! 🙂 Happy “May Day” & a Happy Gardening Season!
