I found another great stash of pictures for #throwbackthursday! This one gets 3 very cool cats who are all grown up now… In one way it makes me feel old, in another it’s great to see the men they have all become.
Have a great Throwback Thursday!

Having a Waterfall right outside your back door is a magical thing indeed! 😊 Ahhh, the soothing sights & sounds… BUT, when it quits running, it’s NEVER at an opportune moment! No indeed! Your either out of town, or it’s scorching HOT 🥵 and your fish are gasping for air, or it’s winter and your pond freezes solid… Your Pond Pump Never goes out at an opportune moment!

Your Waterfall serves many purposes. It’s the central focal point of the Feature, but it also aerates the pond and circulates the water, VERY important for your aquatic life. If your Pond Pump is out, ALL of this stops… | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN
Your Pump is the heart of your Pond! When it stops running, it’s important to have a backup plan! Many people keep a small pump that can be placed in shallow water to “flash the surface” , this will help to keep oxygen in the water while you get a replacement Pond Pump to power your Waterfall.

Pond Pumps come in different shapes and sizes! It’s a great idea to have a backup pump in case of an outage! It could save your sanity and you’re Koi’s life. | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
Many of my clients also have an aeration system in their Pond. This helps to oxygenate the water and it’s unlikely that the pump and the aeration system will fail at the same time. I recommend powering them on separate circuits in case of GFCI interruptions.

Having an Aeration System on your Pond is a great way to maintain oxygen levels for your finned friends. Plug your system into a different outlet & circuit than your pump for even more assurance. We have systems for Ponds large and small at Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio.
– Many of my clients take care of their own pumps and maintenance, which is Great! But even more simply call me to take care of their needs. I have a complete maintenance service available to help you and your Pond. Simply call 731-424-2206 for assistance. We stock most pumps and aeration systems and will get you fixed up in a jiffy!
I hope this little bit of info on pumps and ponds was helpful! Like the old man says, “Knowing is half the battle”!
Happy Pondering! 🤔

I LOVE this Waterfall! Our goal was to create a feature that looks and feels Natural. From the main viewing area I think we pulled it off pretty well 😊
The sound and energy of a natural Waterfall and creek will make you stop in your tracks! You have to take it in. You want to sit down and feel the energy, feel the Zen.
Have a great Monday!

Sunday morning is my favorite morning to grab a cup of coffee and get outside! This morning the birds were singing up a storm & there was still a good breeze blowing. Last night was more of a gale force wind 💨 LOTS of plants to stand up at the nursery 😊
Like most late April’s, we have been sunny and warm one day to cool and raining the next… Tonight looks like we are getting down into the upper 30’s 🥶 But, that’s April in Tennessee! Can you say “Blackberry Winter”!

When the Wisteria and the Blackberries are blooming, expect a cold snap. The old folks call it Blackberry Winter 🥶
“The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You’re one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
a cloud come over the sunlit arch,
And wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you’re two months back in the middle of March.”
~ Robert Frost
Have a Blessed Sunday!

IF your wondering what Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is… Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a natural product made of the fossilized remains of tiny, aquatic organisms called diatoms. D.E. easily crumbles to a fine powder and is used for many purposes from high end skin care products, to water purification, to farming & parasite/insect control. We can even use it to control internal parasites in our own bodies!

We use and sell Diatomaceous Earth at Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee | Call for curbside pickup 731-424-2206
I personally use it to kill/control fleas, ticks & ants around my home and on my pets. I also use it to worm my dogs and cats! It’s even a great organic insect dust that I use in my vegetable garden! The good stuff, as pictured above, is organic and food grade!
Anytime I can turn someone on to a useful, organic product is a good day! If you haven’t tried it yourself, give us a call 731-424-2206, We will fix you up 😊 it’s inexpensive, organic and most importantly- It Works!
Have a great day!

We design and build a LOT of Pondless Waterfalls! This particular one was done for a client who had planned to have one for many years. This video was his idea and his doing which was pretty cool in my opinion! Check out this time lapse of the creation of a Pondless Waterfall! The main view point is of course this lower patio/terrace, BUT the view from the top is nice as well. The upper falls is framed by a glass patio door, so you see from inside the home as well as out. Best of BOTH worlds!
#Waterfallwednesday is pretty cool!
Have a great day!

Today is Earth Day! What is Earth Day you ask… Here’s the official definition – “Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries.”
Like most public things right now, Earth Day celebrations have been cancelled for public gatherings… BUT, you can personally celebrate by doing something “Earth Friendly” like –
- Plant a tree (Native please)
- Plant some flowers (Pollinators)
- Start seperating & recycling trash
- Start a compost pile for organic compost
- Talk to your kids about responsible conservation

The first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, with the goal of raising awareness about mankind’s role in protecting our natural world.
We are going to plant a tree on our property today with our son in honor of Earth Day! I hope you can get out and enjoy our beautiful world today as well!

This lockdown has really shook up spring 2020! The clock is spinning fast and we are flipping calendar pages without really noticing the changing of the seasons.
My advice- Get outside and see the beauty that’s happing before the Spring is gone…
“How many million Aprils came
before I ever knew
how white a cherry bough could be,
a bed of squills, how blue
And many a dancing April
when life is done with me,
will lift the blue flame of the flower
and the white flame of the tree
Oh burn me with your beauty then,
oh hurt me tree and flower,
lest in the end death try to take
even this glistening hour…
~ Sara Teasdale
Spring is here! Just looking at the landscape in your yard or along the fence row can really put a smile on your face 😊
Have a great Tuesday!
