Good morning! 🌞 Its going to be another hot, sticky day in the south!

The hot days of Summer increase evaporation in your Ponds and Pools. Don’t forget to add water!
Have you noticed that you have to add more water to your pond on Hot 🥵 Days like this? It’s purely from evaporation! Don’t forget to top off your Water Garden from time to time to keep up.
OR, check out my little Pond Tip for this week…

We sell and install an Auto Fill Unit for your Pond! The float on the end kicks it into action when it reaches the desired level and it fills it back up for you! Talk about Low Maintenance! 💥
We sell and Install ‘Auto Fill Valves’ specifically made for your Water Garden or Pond. They are fairly simple to install and set up and virtually invisible in your skimmer.
Can you imagine not having to worry about adding water over the Hot Summer months?
Boom💥 This is my offering for your Pond Tip this week 😊 To me it’s all about Low Maintenance! Less work and more enjoyment!
Enjoy the Pond Tip! And Happy Pondering 🤔

Turn off the TV, lay down the smart phone, relax your mind for a little while… I’ve been reflecting on things lately. My life, family, country, God. I for one feel blessed! I am proud to be an American! I took this picture last night as we watched the sunset. Old Glory speaks volumes if you’ll listen…

I want to take a minute and say how thankful I am to be an American! No other country on the face of the earth affords us the rights and privileges that we have as Americans. Stand up! Speak your mind! Hold your ground! God Bless America! 🇺🇸
God bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.

A great Facebook friend posted a picture of a wild Passion Flower this morning and stated that it was her new favorite flower 😊 It drove me outside to take a photo of my Passion Vine that is blooming now too. It’s also one of MY favorites, for several reasons. ❤️

Passiflora incarnata, aka: Passion Flower. It’s also known as a maypop, a purple passionflower, a true passionflower, a wild apricot, and a wild passion vine. It’s our Tennessee State Wildflower & VERY unique! | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio
The one in this picture is growing on my front porch railing and I just LOVE it!
Did you know that you can eat the fruit that this vine grows? They are called ‘Maypops’ and taste delicious! My grandad taught me to eat them when I was a kid…

Break them open and eat the pulp and seeds. They have a sweet taste.
Another fact that makes this a ‘Have to plant’ for me is that it’s a host plant for a beautiful Butterfly! The Gulf Fritillary 🦋

The Passion Vine is host to the beautiful Gulf Fritillary Butterfly. Having this plant in your landscape brings beauty in many ways 😊
So, enjoy the day & enjoy the beauty of this totally unique flower and plant- Passiflora incarnata, aka: The Passion Flower.

Waterfall Wednesday is here again. Here is a Waterfall from a recent project. This new Pond needed a powerful biological filter to handle a decent sized fish load, ie; LOTS of Koi… So we specified a customized Bog, aka: Constructed Wetland Filter! Large boulders, cobblestone, washed river gravel & booku Aquatic Plants!!
It turned out Beautiful! 👇🏻

This beautiful Waterfall flows from an Awesome natural filter, known as a Constructed Wetland Filter. It doesn’t really look like a filter per se’, it looks natural! Biomimicry at its best! | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
It’s gonna be a Beautiful Day! Get out and enjoy!
Have a great, #waterfallwednesday!

Well, we are past the Summer Solstice and approaching the 4th of July. Meaning, the HEAT is ON! 🌞🥵 All the aquatic plants are full and lush as they can be. But, they are getting heavy & about to need some TLC!

I always wait until after the 4th of July party, then I give my plants a good haircut. It will extend the beauty of most plants through the remainder of the season. | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio
The 4th of July is a great time to trim back your heavy hanging baskets, overflowing pottery & your crazy Aquatic Plants!
It’s also a great time to fertilize them! It will blow your mind how quickly they fill right back in and start blooming again. WOW!

I always cleanup & trim back my plants mid season to rejuvenate vigor & produce more blooms into the late season. Try it!
While you’re at it, have a jar of Aquatic Plant fertilizer and feed those babies! The ROI is Beautiful! 😊

We stock Aquatic Plant Fertilizer Tablets for your convenience at Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio. They are super easy to use and work great! Keep your Aquatics looking great all season long!
So there you have it! After that big 4th party, spend a little time and trim back your bloomers and your aquatic plants, and fertilize/feed them! It will keep you looking great all the way through Fall!
Happy Pondering 🤔

What exactly is Zen? A client that subscribed to my blog asked me this question the other day at my Garden Center.
Well, I told him Zen can be described several ways… When it applies to the garden it simply means quiet, peaceful feelings.
From the dictionary it’s both a Noun & an Adjective: zen : a state of calm attentiveness in which one’s actions are guided by intuition rather than by conscious effort Perhaps that is the zen of gardening—you become one with the plants, lost in the rhythm of the tasks at hand”.
I can say for a fact, that is the Zen I’m speaking of. It’s a feeling of peace and relaxation that I or you get from waterfalls, koi & gardening in general. Even a sunrise or sunset can give one this feeling 😊

The feeling you get watching the sunset over the water is a Zen feeling. There is something special about water… There is a bit of magic in it…
So many times it’s the setting or focus that helps you achieve this Zen… Another friend sent me a photo that his daughter took of their Waterfall. I think you will feel the Zen form this photo as I did 👇🏻

A friends daughter took this picture. I can tell that she knows the meaning of Zen already 😊
I hope you all have a wonderful morning and a great week ahead!

I was thinking about my dad just now… What would I have done without him? What would my son have done without me? Dads are one of, if not THE most important figure in a boys life! Thank God for Dad!

I was always hanging around my Dad, even at the Fire station. He taught me how to be a man. Now I have a son of my own. With my Dads help ❤️ He has turned out well too 😊
“A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.”
~ Billy Graham
Happy Fathers Day to all the ‘Dads’ out there…
Have a GREAT Fathers Day! I’m going to lunch with my dad and my son to celebrate 🎉
PS: Enjoy the socks and ties 😉
