Sunday Reflections…

Last night was Cold 🥶 42 degrees with a brisk northerly wind 🌬 It sure didn’t feel like the official entry to Summer… But, this morning, the brilliant Sunrise helped mediate that feeling. Tomorrow is Memorial Day, a day to honor and remember all the men and women who gave all for this country. Maybe this unusual cold is a reminder of that? We were all huddled by the fire 🔥 last night. How many soldiers huddled by fires, dreaming of home, family and cool Summer nights that never returned… I can stand a cool night by a fire just fine when I think about that… God Bless America 🇺🇸

Sunrise is always a welcome thing 🌞

“Somewhere out there today,
In a land far, far away,
A soldier rides patrol,
Knowing not what may unfold.

He keeps watch as he rides
Over dangerous countryside.
Roadside bomb could be hit.
Scary, but this soldier doesn’t quit.

Think about Mom and Dad,
About the good times had,
State-side, how long here?
Back to watching, a little fear.

This was a good day
To think and to pray.
Strange that prayer is so right
When there could be a fire fight.

Wheel back into base.
Tomorrow, another ride to face.
Convoys done for the day.
Looks like rain’s on its way.

Nerve wracking job but boring too,
But that’s what soldiers do.
So many over here, none alike,
Who have gladly joined this fight.

Freedom has a high cost.
Lives given, the ultimate loss.
That cost they willingly give
So freedom can continue to live.

So, we remember today
All those who went away-
And gave their lives that we
Might live here and stay free.

God Bless America!”

God Bless America! 🇺🇸 🙏🏻

My parents taught us from childhood to pray for our family, our neighbors, and to pray for our country and it’s leaders. We all should! So I thought I would post this quote of a prayer by our 1st President, George Washington. This prayer is still read aloud at Mount Vernon. It was sent out to all the Governors of the new States. It’s still a relevant prayer today.

“I now make it my earnest prayer, that God would have the United States in his holy protection, that he would incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field, and finally, that he would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all, to do Justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility and pacific temper of mind, which were the Characteristicks of the Devine Author of our blessed Religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy Nation.  Amen

~ George Washington

Veterans Day 🇺🇸 Thank You For Your Service!

Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day, because November 11th. was the day they signed the Armistice that put an end to WWI. Back then it only honored those who died in war. But in 1954 the day became known as Veterans Day & now honors all who have served our country. So let’s all thank a veteran today! Without all their hard work & sacrifice, we wouldn’t have the privileges & freedoms that we enjoy today.

Happy Veterans Day!

“The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation.”

~George Washington

Thank You to ALL Who Served!

God Bless America!

Will You Vote Tomorrow?

One of the biggest voices we have is our vote! I’ve voted 🗳 in every possible election over the years. I do think it’s important to exercise that personal right. Every time voting day rolls around I always think about a special place from Jackson’s past. A place that really helped me grow up… Buddies Place! Locals will know of what I speak. Cecil Maxwell was a big influence on me as a boy. And gave me one of my first jobs working at the Pool 🎱 Room as a teenager. Anyone who went up there back in tha day, remembers the stairs! And they probably remember the sign as you got to the top. It had a political statement that still rings true. It said “Your vote gives you the right to bitch! IF you don’t vote, don’t be bitching”! I still feel the same way 😎

One of the last of the old school Pool Rooms 🎱 The political discussions were awesome and very educational for a young man like myself. I learned a lot about living in that old Pool Hall…

No matter your political leanings, it’s very important to get out and exercise your right to Vote! And remember, if you don’t … Keep your opinions to yourself! You didn’t earn the right to bitch about the outcome 😎

I don’t know about you, but I’m voting to bring Buddies Place Back! Who’s with me?!

Have a great evening! See ya’ at the polls tomorrow!

God Bless America! 🇺🇸

Monday Morning Moment Of Zen…

I LOVE Tennessee! I especially love the Natural Springs, Creeks, Waterfalls and Rivers ❤️ In some areas of the state a beautiful stream, strewn with little waterfalls flows around and through every holler. I stopped by just such a stream the other day and walked down to the bank and took this short video to share this morning. It is such a relaxing sound and the water is as warm as a bath right now. So, Zen…

Enjoy a wonderful ‘Zen Filled’ Monday!

Sunday Reflections…

Turn off the TV, lay down the smart phone, relax your mind for a little while… I’ve been reflecting on things lately. My life, family, country, God. I for one feel blessed! I am proud to be an American! I took this picture last night as we watched the sunset. Old Glory speaks volumes if you’ll listen…

I want to take a minute and say how thankful I am to be an American! No other country on the face of the earth affords us the rights and privileges that we have as Americans. Stand up! Speak your mind! Hold your ground! God Bless America! 🇺🇸

God bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.

Peace,

Monday Morning Moment of Zen | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Tennessee

This ones a little different than usual, BUT – there’s not much more of a free “Zen like” feeling than being on the open water in your kayak just floating down the river 😊 This is a local place that’s convenient & nice. Their rates are fair & the people are friendly. I am ready for Spring & “river weather”! Enjoy 😉

Happy Pondering! And stay warm this week!
