I have been on the road for the past few days doing some out of town Water Feature Design work. My travels have taken me into middle and eastern Tennessee, up into the mountains ⛰ What a beautiful state we live in ❤️ I Love TN! To top it all off, the TN VOLS 🏈 finally broke a loosing streak to Alabama and beat them at home in Knoxville! 🏈💥
Now it’s back down the mountain, across the plateau and the TN River to West Tn… and to quote the old saying “There is NO place like home!”

“Its great to be back
after many places we did roam.
no greater truth has been said,
than..theres no place like home
sacred sanctuary and my familiar bed,
soft blankets and comfy pillows that
that mould so knowingly,
to the shape of your head.
food cooked just like I want
rooms set up to my taste,
cupboards for me to rummage in
and stack up neatly, what I purchased.
plants to say hello to,
flowers to greet me smilingly
not to forget my darling doggy
who licks me welcomes me so beguingly
ah the pleasure and comfort of my home
can not be compared to any other
the feeling when you enter your home
is like a child being embraced by its mother.
holidays are fun and are required
they serve to remind you well.
after you have had fun and travelled,
its great to be back where you dwell
though it takes a lot of love and labour
to make a home that that you can be proud
theres no place like home
I will say it again
I will say it hearfelt and loud.”

I told my wife that a minute ago and grinned 😊 Mmmm Hmmmm… ”Lets hear it, whats a burble”? Well well I said, let me lay this on ya’ real quick…
Here’s the definition of Burble : Verb ;
“To burble is to move with a rippling flow, the way water bubbles down the side of a small garden waterfall. A stream burbles as it travels along its bed, bubbling over rocks and branches. The verb burble captures both the movement of the water and the sound it makes as it moves.”
~ definition from vocabulary.com

Waterfall Wednesday is here again. Here is a Waterfall from a recent project. This new Pond needed a powerful biological filter to handle a decent sized fish load, ie; LOTS of Koi… So we specified a customized Bog, aka: Constructed Wetland Filter! Large boulders, cobblestone, washed river gravel & booku Aquatic Plants!!
It turned out Beautiful! 👇🏻

This beautiful Waterfall flows from an Awesome natural filter, known as a Constructed Wetland Filter. It doesn’t really look like a filter per se’, it looks natural! Biomimicry at its best! | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
It’s gonna be a Beautiful Day! Get out and enjoy!
Have a great, #waterfallwednesday!

My son and I have been on a business trip for the last week & I think we both learned a lot & had a great time to boot! But, there’s nothing like going HOME! Home is where the ❤️ is 😍

Jacob sure had fun on this learning trip! We earned CEU’s to keep our Master Certification up to date. AND they had Koi to feed😊 NOW we get go home and feed our own Koi babies! #Theresnoplacelikehome

I thought I would post this for my contribution to #waterfallwednesday

Shane (my construction supervisor), Jacob (my son) & I went down and spent an entire week working with Gulf Coast Aquascapes & a team of fellow Certified Aquascape Contractors to build this Awesome Waterfall Feature at the New Gulf Coast Zoo! This will be the Spider Monkey Island exhibit.
The good news is, the Little Zoo That Could will be reopening soon! It will now be known as the ‘Little Zoo That Grew”! Click on the link below for more info…

I LOVE before and after pictures of Landscapes. They are powerful! A simple idea can literally transform an area to something completely different. This one goes back a bit… 20 years or so. I came across these pictures while I was cleaning out some files and thought I would share them today. After all, it’s Thursday & everyone is posting throwback pics 😊

This area was planned to be a “Filler Area” in the landscape with cross ties and ground covers. BUT, I talked them into more…
This area beacame their favorite spot in and around the house. I took this after picture around 20 years after the initial installation while I was there to speak to a local Garden Club about Water Features in the Landscape. Still such a beautiful spot to spend time.
This is my offering for #Throwback Thursday😊
Have a great one!

We used large mossy boulders and creek stone to construct this ‘Naturalistic’ Water Feature. We were striving to look as “Natural” as possible, so we used specimen quality boulders & cedar driftwood & stumps to help achieve our goal. We didn’t want the stone work to look “Done” or man made in any way & I really think we achieved what we were looking for. Luckily for us, so did our clients 😊 I wanted to share this today & I hope y’all enjoy. I always appreciate a little feedback, so let me know what you think.
Thanks! AND… Happy Pondering! 🙂
