Waterfall Wednesday! AKA: Hump Day! Nothing gets me over that hump better than the energy of a Beautiful Waterfall! This one is in the center of a beautiful resort community, nestled along the banks of Kentucky Lake.

I took this picture last night after Midnight. It’s a beautiful Pondless Waterfall Feature at Birdsong Resort and Marina. I just Love Waterfalls ❤️
Waterfall Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the week!
Have a Great One!

I try to pass along helpful advice to help with your Ponds… Here is a blog post from a year ago that covers where we are in the season right now. I hope you like it 😊
Summer Pond Maintenance
My pond has been exceptionally beautiful this season! LOTS of lily blooms, the lotus have been showing out & there is so much lush foliage.
My Water Garden plants have been so beautiful this year! But to keep them looking great they need a little TLC | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
One of the #1 things to do right now is keep your lilies & lotus fed (fertilized) to keep them performing into late summer and fall. It’s very simple to do! Come by and grab a container of Aquatic Plant Fertilizer Tabs. One of us will show you how to poke em’ down into the root zone of the plant – Done!
AND #2 is to keep your aquatic plant growth in check! All this Hot weather has them growing like weeds 😊
- selectively trim marginal aquatics to keep in check and to promote strong compact growth.
- remove yellowed unattractive Lilly pads & spent blooms to Promote new growth and bloom.
- Keep Waterfalls & streams free and clear of excessive plant growth and debris! A plant dam will cause a leak every time!
Koi Love to be hand fed! If yours aren’t eating from your hand yet, try feeding at the same time daily and have patience, it takes a little while to win them over, but once you do, it will be worth the effort 😊 Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
– Enjoy your Koi! Feed them quality Koi food, but don’t over feed! Over feeding can cause water quality issues…
A little touch up now will pay dividends for the rest of the season! Get out there and enjoy 😉

Most travel plans have been put on hold, as I’m sure you are well aware… So for our Anniversary trip, we decided to do it by Boat 🚣♀️ Talk about social distancing! Tanning, reading, jamming music, taking photos, and just cruising the boat. Only stopping to take dip or refuel at an available marina.

What a wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary!

We taken many a road trip as well, but there’s nothing like just floating around on the river for a few days!
“Dark brown is the river.
Golden is the sand.
It flows along for ever,
With trees on either hand.
Green leaves a-floating,
Castles of the foam,
Boats of mine a-boating—
Where will all come home?
On goes the river
And out past the mill,
Away down the valley,
Away down the hill.
Away down the river,
A hundred miles or more,
Other little children
Shall bring my boats ashore.”

Happy Anniversary! ❤️🍾💥 I am a blessed man! I’m fortunate enough to have a job that I love, a great family & Im married to a virtuous woman 👩🏻 Again – blessed! 27 years of marriage today… In the blink of an eye! It doesn’t seem possible that this much time has passed… It literally seems like yesterday that we walked up that isle…

We had a great group of groomsmen and bridesmaids to help us that day!
We have taken a few days off to celebrate and wind down. Nothing fancy, just some time together.

Jo’s grandfather walked her down the isle that day. I found this picture of him and it did my heart good. He was a very special person in Jo’s life. And our life together. ❤️
Thanks for all the calls and texts wishing us a happy day! And here’s to another 27 years together!
Cheers 🥂

I just had to amend my Blog today… it was on deck to publish… and I forgot to pull the trigger 😳

This was last years Anniversary photo… a 26 year comparison shot. Not to shabby 😊
I, WE are taking a few day’s off to celebrate and to try and slow it down a little… Jo and I always try to plan some time around our Anniversary & we both look forward to time together. The years are literally flying by… But, I’ve apparently been having fun, because I haven’t really noticed 😊
So, we are gonna take a break for a few days and try to relax. I will share some pics from the road over the next few days.
Thanks 🙏🏻 Have a great weekend!

We do quite a few Waterfalls on swimming pools. We design and build each one individually. In over 30 years in business I can honestly say, there are no 2 alike. Which to me makes them all Custom works of art…

Just turned it on. The sound is wonderful & the scale is perfect for the area. Now it’s time for a little planting.
Waterfall Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the week! It’s a day that I get to share our art with all of you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 😊 And I hope you enjoy this beautiful #waterfallwednesday!

So many people come to the nursery and just Love to feed the Koi!😍 They will swim right up and take the food from your hand 🖐🏻 So many people say “I can’t get my Koi to eat from my hand… What can I do”? So, I thought I would point everyone in the right direction on ‘How to get your Koi to eat from your hand”! 💥

Koi actually love to interact and eat from your hand. You just have to work with them a little bit… | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
The easiest way to explain how to train a koi to eat from your hand is to go Pavlovian on them… ie; Conditioned Response! Pavlov used a bell 🔔 or buzzer in his work. He would make the sound & then give the dog food… Eventually just making the sound would make the dog slobber with anticipation. It kinda works the same way with Koi!

Consistency and repetition are key to train your Koi. Oh, and watermelon 🍉
#1 – Feed at the same time EVERY day! Be it morning or evening, be Consistent!
#2 – Repetition! At first, feed at the same time, in the same place and with the same food! Make a little splash sound with your fingertips, then throw a little food out. not to much at first. Doing it this way doesn’t really take that long. You just have to be committed to the process!
#3 Only feed for a given time. 5 minutes at first. Once they catch on, you can improvise with snacks and fruit 🍉 🍊 🥬

Once you break the ice, you can move closer and closer during feeding time, until your right on the edge with them and they will be literally eating from your hand!
So there you have it. Be consistent, be repetitive and ❤️ Your Koi!
