Sunday Reflections…

What a Beautiful Sunrise! The official “1st. Day of Spring” is on Wednesday, but judging by the way it looks & feels – Spring has Sprung!

Nothing says Spring more than blooming Daffodils 🌼

I’m staying outside ALL Day today 😊

Yall have a Great Day too! ❤️

Spring Morning

Where am I going? I don’t quite know.
Down to the stream where the king-cups grow-
Up on the hill where the pine-trees blow-
Anywhere, anywhere. I don’t know.

Where am I going? The clouds sail by,
Little ones, baby ones, over the sky.
Where am I going? The shadows pass,
Little ones, baby ones, over the grass.

If you were a cloud, and sailed up there,
You’d sail on water as blue as air,
And you’d see me here in the fields and say:
“Doesn’t the sky look green today?”

Where am I going? The high rooks call:
“It’s awful fun to be born at all.”
Where am I going? The ring-doves coo:
“We do have beautiful things to do.”

If you were a bird, and lived on high,
You’d lean on the wind when the wind came by,
You’d say to the wind when it took you away:
“That’s where I wanted to go today!”

Where am I going? I don’t quite know.
What does it matter where people go?
Down to the wood where the blue-bells grow-
Anywhere, anywhere. I don’t know.

Sunday Reflections…

The wind has calmed, the rain has ceased, Daylight Savings is in full effect & Spring is in the air! I got out first thing with the dogs and had some fun 😊 They are as excited as I am about this Spring like weather! Now, it’s time to fix breakfast for the family- Country Ham, biscuits & gravy coming up 🐖 🍳 Oh, Coffee! Lots of Coffee! 😊🌞

They did a little runnin 😊 Everybody is happy about Spring!

“March bustles in on windy feet
And sweeps my doorstep and my street.
She washes and cleans with pounding rains,
Scrubbing the earth of winter stains.
She shakes the grime from carpet green
Till naught but fresh new blades are seen.
Then, house in order, all neat as a pin,
She ushers gentle springtime in.”

Have a Great Sunday!

Sunday Reflections…

I woke up this morning to such a surprise! WOW! What’s going on?! What in the world is that in the sky?! My wife said, I think it’s the Sun 🌞 😊

Up with the sun! It’s time to get outside & see what’s happening in the garden. Spring is Coming!

After the storm yesterday evening, as the front moved on past, you could see the clearing in the sky & it had a red glow from what was left of the sunset. Almost at the same time Jo & I said  “Red sky at night, sailors’ delight” 😊 Which in the old saying is followed by – “Red sky at morning, sailors take warning”.

Right then I knew we would have a beautiful Sunrise in the morning!

In case you didn’t know, that old saying about the sky is true & it comes straight from the Bible and the words of Jesus –

Matthew 16:2-3

He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times”.

As for me, I’m just thrilled that we are past the rain for a bit! Prayers for all the folks around the river who are facing a record setting flood 🙏🏻 It’s getting pretty bad!

“We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in the darkness”.

Have a great day! ✌️❤️

Sunday Reflections…

It’s so nice to have family staying with us for a spell. Even if they are in town for a funeral… Or should I say a “Celebration of Life”! My cousins and sister and myself spent so many good times here on the family place. We would sit up and talk, play, spend all night outside in the dark, many times getting in trouble 😇 Cousins are our first friends as children, at least that’s my experience 😊 For them, it’s coming home again. For me it’s a chance to catch up, visit & break bread together. I got up and cooked breakfast for everyone & we ate and had juice & coffee ☕️. It sure does feel good to have family!

Hey grandpa, what’s fer breakfast? Sausages with onions, fried eggs, toast with jam & save room for some country ham 😊

I remember when we were little kids and
would stay at grandma and grandpa’s
house all night.

We would get scolded when we talked in
bed until once again the room would
grow quiet.

Just when we thought we were out of
trouble, one of us would think of some-
thing funny to say. We could hear footsteps
coming down the hall, that meant that grandpa
was on his way.

Now grandma and grandpa could be quite
stern, but never could they be mean.
Mostly it was a lot of love that came
from them, that is what we had seen.

Finally we would settle down for the
night and before we knew it, it was the
next day. We weren’t so anxious to get up
because we had talked the night away.

Grandma would yell, you kids get up,
Get out of bed it’s time for you to eat.
We could already smell the biscuits,
bacon and eggs, we knew we were in for
quite a treat.

We were right because when we saw the
table set with all the goodies galore.
It only made us want to stay a grandma
and grandpa’s house more and more and
more.

It’s a bittersweet reunion, but you count your blessings where you can.

Rest In Peace Mark Asher! 🙏🏻

God Bless! Here’s to Sunday Mornings with Family!

Sunday Reflections…

Rainy Sunday morning. My wife rolled over and said “let’s just sleep in”… Perfect 👌🏻 Enjoy your Sunday 😊

Sometime a rainy morning is a good thing 😊

There will come soft rain and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white;

Robins will wear their feathery fire,
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
If mankind perished utterly;

And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

Sunday Reflections…

What a beautiful morning! And, WOW what a difference a day makes… Just a couple of days ago we were freezing & talking about record lows, but today we might see 70! I literally had to smack a bug off of me yesterday evening! It feels like a Spring morning 🌞 Maybe Punxsutawney Phil was right? Spring is coming sooner than later! 🙏🏻

Year after year these daffodils are a sure sign of Spring. It won’t be long now until I get to see them bloom again. My Grandma planted them & they are special ❤️😊

I’ve already started my preparations for the season & believe me, I’m ready!! The Super Bowl plays today 🏈 then, it’s on to Spring!

“He knows no winter, he who loves the soil,
For, stormy days, when he is free from toil,
He plans his summer crops, selects his seeds
From bright-paged catalogues for garden needs.
When looking out upon frost-silvered fields,
He visualizes autumn’s golden yields;
He sees in snow and sleet and icy rain
Precious moisture for his early grain;
He hears spring-heralds in the storm’s ‘ turmoil
He knows no winter, he who loves the soil.”

Have a blessed day!

Sunday Reflections…

A beautiful morning! Cold, but not too cold. I put my coat on and went for a little walk, you can see and feel that Spring is coming, but not just yet…

A beautiful Winter morning sunrise!

The calendar flips to February this week, another milestone on our road to Spring! Not to rush the seasons, but I am ready 😊

Now it’s on to breakfast with my family, Sunday’s reward! Time with family is the 1 thing you can’t purchase more of… Love = Time on a cold Sunday morning!

The fruit offsets all the pork in a proper breakfast meal 🥘😇

“Is not January the hardest month to get through?  When you have weathered that, you get into the gulfstream of winter, nearer the shores of spring”.

~ Henry David Thoreau
