Sunday Reflections…

Yesterday was so nice. The day began and ended around our water garden. The weather was almost perfect! Rain is forecast for today, but a garden needs rain to thrive… I’m thinking a nice Sunday nap may be in order 😊

“If it’s drama that you sigh for, plant a garden and you’ll get it. You will know the thrill of battle fighting foes that will beset it. If you long for entertainment and for pageantry most glowing, plant a garden and this summer spend your time with green things growing.”

   ~ Edward A. Guest

My Garden is my refuge.

Enjoy your Sunday 😊

Sunday Reflections…

I was sleeping like a log, until my wife let the dogs in…  Then both of them leapt on me with a flurry of licks 🐶 They are so happy 😀 Nobody loves you like your dog! When I count my blessings, they are always there. Sunday mornings are the best!

When my dogs pile on ya’, you come out well washed 😂

“I lie belly-up
In the sunshine, happier than
You ever will be.

Today I sniffed
Many dog butts—I celebrate
By kissing your face.

I sound the alarm!
Paperboy—come to kill us all —
Look! Look! Look! Look! Look!

I sound the alarm!
Garbage man—come to kill us all —
Look! Look! Look! Look! Look!

I lift my leg and
Whiz on each bush. Hello, Spot—
Sniff this and weep.

I Hate my choke chain—
Look, world, they strangle me! Ack
Ack Ack Ack Ack Ack!

Sleeping here, my chin
On your foot—no greater bliss—well,
Maybe catching cats.

Look in my eyes and
Deny it. No human could
Love you as much as I do.”

Sunday Reflections…

When the hummingbirds are back around the nursery, it’s like magic to me. They have all the available flowers you can imagine, plus multiple feeders – They are in heaven too I think. I’ve been watching a few buzzing around this morning while I do my watering… It never gets old 😊

Hummingbirds are tough, tenacious little dudes! I ❤️ Hummingbirds!

This beautiful poem sums it up…

“When the hummingbird sinks it’s face into the trumpet vine, and the funnels

Of the blossoms and the tongue leaps out and throbs,

I am scorched to realize once again how many small, available things are in the world

That aren’t pieces of gold or power —- that nobody owns

Or could buy even for a hillside of money —- that just float about the world,

Or drift over the fields, or into the gardens, and into the tents of the vines, and how here I am

spending my time, as the saying goes, watching until the watching turns into feeling, so that I feel I am myself

A small bird with a terrible hunger, with a thin beak probing and dipping and a heart that races so fast

it is only a heart beat ahead of breaking—- and I am the hunger and assuagement, and also I am the leaves and the blossoms, and, like them, I am full of delight and shaking.”

~ Mary Oliver

Enjoy this beautiful day!

Sunday Reflections… Easter Sunday “He is Risen”!

Sunday Reflections…

Cool, rainy, stormy night. More of the same today… Wonderful time to catch up on some rest! April showers bring, you know what 🌺🌼🌻😊

I helped my Grandad transplant this azalea from an old home place over 30 years ago. Still blooms so beautifully in the Spring! It brightens a cloudy morning…

April Rain

The April rain, the April rain,
Comes slanting down in fitful showers,
Then from the furrow shoots the grain,
And banks are fledged with nestling flowers;
And in grey shaw and woodland bowers
The cuckoo through the April rain
Calls once again.

The April sun, the April sun,
Glints through the rain in fitful splendour,
And in grey shaw and woodland dun
The little leaves spring forth and tender
Their infant hands, yet weak and slender,
For warmth towards the April sun,
One after one.

And between shower and shine hath birth
The rainbow’s evanescent glory;
Heaven’s light that breaks on mists of earth!
Frail symbol of our human story,
It flowers through showers where, looming hoary,
The rain-clouds flash with April mirth,
Like Life on earth.

Sunday Reflections…

All this warm weather this last week followed by this rain last night and today is going to make all these emerging plants and trees just explode with growth. I LOVE Spring 😊 Enjoy a rainy Sunday with family and friends.

Sometimes a rainy day is a sweet thing 😊

“And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.”
     ~ Percy Bysshe Shelley

Have a great day!

Sunday Reflections…

What a BEAUTIFUL, Cold Sunday morning! Maybe it feels so cold because it has been in the sunny 70’s for a while now… The old saying rings true – “If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute”… 😊 That’s the Good news – after Tuesday we are back in the 70’s & maybe even the 80’s! Bad news – FREEZE WARNING TONIGHT! 🥶 I gotta play musical chairs with my potted plants again…

My Grandma planted this flowering Almond many years ago. I had to sit down when I saw it blooming. Brings back memories of her ❤️ Stories I can share with my son too. I Love Old “Memory Plants”!

”So fair, so cold; like a morning of pale spring still clinging to winters chill.”

~ J.R.R. Tolkien

Have a great Sunday with the ones you love!

PS: Don’t forget- Freeze Warning tonight!
