Were you early to church this morning? Or, were you more like me and actually set your clocks ahead like we were supposed to, only to have to drag your butt out of bed 🛏 Springing forward ain’t easy!
I will gladly readjust my time for SPRING!
As I watch the snow melt this morning, Spring is in the air! And in a week, it will be official 😊 I am so ready for longer evenings, flowers, boating season and homegrown tomato’s 🍅.
“In spring when maple buds are red, We turn the clock an hour ahead; Which means, each April that arrives, We lose an hour out of our lives.
Who cares? When autumn birds in flocks Fly southward, back we turn the clocks, And so regain a lovely thing That missing hour we lost in spring.”
Heres a beautiful #throwbackthursday memory from years ago. The really good part is, this is a repeating memory 😊 It comes back around every year and brings Spring with it…
We aren’t quite as far along this year but the foliage is emerging and soon – Blooms!
A living memory for Throwback Thursday! My great grandmother planted these many many years ago. Memory plants, legacy plants, just plain special plants! Today they are my #Throwbackthursday plants ❤️😊
Yes! March is the 1st Month of Spring 💐 It’s also the month we “Spring Forward”, which I actually love ❤️ because I like to stay outside in the evenings after work… I know there are no more hours or time in the day, BUT, it’s always so nice to have the evenings back! March 1st is the 60th day of the year… And now is when the Magic starts to happen! The Daffodils and many other early Spring bulbs start blooming, along with other harbingers of the season like the ‘Yellow Bell’ Forsythia, Quince, Oriental Magnolias and so many other native trees and shrubs… We are entering the most exciting time of the year!
Nothing says Spring more than blooming Daffodils 🌼 There is something about seeing the Yellow Bells’ blooming that brings SPRING into sharp focus! Get ready, it’s Happening! A Redbud (Cercis canadensis) in full Spring bloom. One of my favorite early Spring blooming trees | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN Saucer’ Magnolia – (Magnolia × soulangeana). What a beautiful morning! Warm with a light breeze, the tree pollen is down a bit too. Perfect Sunday morning in May!
I’m getting my Garden in order this weekend. I love the month of May!
I really start planting in earnest when May arrives. Frost is behind us & the garden is calling… The whole world is alive and thriving now 😊 It feels so nice! I’m going back inside to have breakfast, then it’s on!
“May and June. Soft syllables, gentle names for the two best months in the garden year: cool, misty mornings gently burned away with a warming spring sun, followed by breezy afternoons and chilly nights. The discussion of philosophy is over; it’s time for work to begin.” ~ Peter Loewer
Today is Earth Day! What is Earth Day you ask… Here’s the official definition – “Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries.”
Like most public things right now, Earth Day celebrations have been cancelled for public gatherings… BUT, you can personally celebrate by doing something “Earth Friendly” like –
Plant a tree (Native please)
Plant some flowers (Pollinators)
Start seperating & recycling trash
Start a compost pile for organic compost
Talk to your kids about responsible conservation
The first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, with the goal of raising awareness about mankind’s role in protecting our natural world.
We are going to plant a tree on our property today with our son in honor of Earth Day! I hope you can get out and enjoy our beautiful world today as well!
