Carter's Water Garden

Sunday Reflections…

I’m having my coffee and thinking about what’s next today… It’s Father’s Day! And lunch is at my house… I’m counting my blessings this morning ❤️

My dad through the years, with me and friends and his brother as well. Happy Father’s Day to all the other “Dads” out there!

I think of my dad, my grandfather’s and so many great men that I looked up too all these years. Role models, teachers, providers, hero’s ❤️

I think of my son as well. He made me a dad😊 And will one day make a great one himself!

A little collage of my boy, the kid who made me a Father and helped me become a Dad…

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads, Pops, Fathers and Daddy’s out there! Today is YOUR day!

He never looks for praises.

He’s never one to boast.

He just goes on quietly working

For those he loves the most.

His dreams are seldom spoken.

His wants are very few,

And most of the time his worries

Will go unspoken, too.

He’s there… a firm foundation

Through all our storms of life,

A sturdy hand to hold onto

In times of stress and strife.

A true friend we can turn to

When times are good or bad.

One of our greatest blessings,

The man that we call Dad.

YODO…
Snoopy has a great point. We should enjoy each day on its on merits. Instead of waiting on a vacation or a destination, we should find happiness in each Sunrise and sunset 🌅

That’s my new motto… Instead of YOLO (You only live once) Its YODO (You Only Die Once)!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

God Bless America 🇺🇸

Throwback Thursday

A timely throwback memory. My cousin Kim is in town for graduations and a few other things, so I pulled up a few old pics and made a little collage of Kim and family down through the years. Cousins are very special family! We are as close as siblings and even better friends than if we were brothers and sisters 😊

It’s so nice getting to spend some time with family that you grew up with. Lifelong memories ❤️

Here’s to #Throwbackthursday!

Sunday Reflections…

My day started early… straightened up the house a little, straightened up outside and on the porch a little… Cleaned the grill real good, cut up veggies and sliced salmon filets, etc etc. Getting ready for Mother’s Day lunch is a bit of work, BUT, worth every minute of the effort! ❤️

Mom came over and ate and we all had a good visit.

I meant to get good pictures of the plated food before it was all eaten… Oh well, I guess it was good 😊 By the time I remembered, there wasn’t much left…

What’s for dinner? “Grilled Salmon with Mango salsa, mixed roasted vegetables, broccoli slaw, Mac & Cheese with bacon, and mixed fruit salad”. Y’all come!

I got a picture with all the moms in the room together. Pretty awesome if you ask me. My mom and sister and My wife and her mom.

It’s been a while since everyone could be together at the same time. So it was a great day on many levels!

“Youth fades; love droops; the leaves of friendship fall; A mother’s secret hope outlives them all.”

~ Oliver Wendell Holmes

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there! What would we do without y’all?!

Throwback Thursday…

I always enjoy looking back on #throwbackthursday. Today my memory is in full bloom.

I helped my Grandad dig this old azalea up decades ago.

As a young man, I spent much of my Summer time working with my Grandad. Gardening, working cattle and cutting, splitting and hauling wood 🪵 for the winter. A HUGE old oak tree fell in a lady’s yard during a storm. Grandad was called to cut it up and haul it away. So we did just that, and more.

The old Oak had fallen in a huge flower bed and destroyed a lot of plants. Including a big drift of these azaleas. She told us to take what we wanted if they were salvageable… So, grandma came over and picked out what she wanted and we dug em up and transplanted them to our home place. When Spring rolls around each year, this Azalea (the last one) is a living reminder of those times spent with my Grandad cutting wood and with my Grandma in the Garden ❤️

Here’s to family memories!

Sunday Reflections…

For the first time in years I slept past 8am on Sunday morning. It was good sleep 😴 but… Sleeping in, ain’t what it used to be 😊

Brunch is on!

sausage and onions with fresh made pancakes, whipped butter and warm maple 🍁 syrup, over medium eggs 🍳 and oolong tea ☕️

Today is Super Bowl Sunday! Always a fun day! And a milepost in the seasons for my business! For Carter’s Nursery, Tomorrow is Super Bowl Monday! A day when we start LOTS of seasonal Landscape chores… So I got that goin for me 😊

Question- Who are you pulling for in the big game? For Jo and I, we got Brady’s team – The Buccaneers 🏴‍☠️ 🏈 The biggest reason, besides the fact that Brady is probably the best ever at his position (Quarterback), is that The night that Jo had our son Jacob, was the very night that Brady made his first mark on the NFL winning a snowy game against The Raiders to move forward into the Super Bowl – His 1st. Super Bowl win! Can you say “Tuck Rule”… 😳. She laid there, in labor, and watched the entire game with me! At times of serious pain, she would ask, what’s going on? What’s the score? How’s Brady doing? A football 🏈 fan was born! And, a beautiful, bouncing baby boy to boot! Boom💥 Yes, that’s 6 B’s in a row! Thank you, thank you very much!

No matter the outcome of today’s game though, we will have fun watching it!

Have a great Sunday! And, Go Bucs!🏈💥

Happy Birthday! 🎈

My little baby boy is all grown up 🥲 He’s a man now… I still look at him and see the wild adventurous youngster that wore his Batman getup EVERYWHERE for years 😊 His love for animals is apparent, as is his love for family and friends ❤️ I put together a quick collage of photos that I think captures at least a bit of his essence…

From Halloween, to butterflies, learning to play guitar to hanging with Paul Thorn and even becoming the Ninja 🥷 that he has always wanted to be. Happy Birthday!

He has been all over the place with his mom and me. Worked on projects, played with tigers, received awards for his stewardship and more. I’m a very proud papa!

Happy Birthday Jacob!

Sunday Reflections…

We stayed up LATE last night, binge watching movies and eating Christmas goodies… I normally don’t sit up real late, so it was different & fun 🤩 Until this morning…

You ever sleep through the alarm 🚨 Late night = dog pile 😴 Let me sleep…

It’s been a Great Christmas season! But I think I’m ready for 2021… Now, for a shower 🚿

Have a great Sunday!
