Well I got up this morning to a still cold, mostly white, snow covered world. But today the wind is out of the south and the temperature is getting up above 50 today, so I expect to see some grass and bare areas before the day is out. It’s been over a week of being mainly trapped in the house, below zero wind chills, frozen pipes, BAD roads, Storm damage, etc… I feel ready for Spring…
In another way, its been so beautiful… We have gotten to spend some quality time together and I will miss that part of being trapped inside together 😊 I haven’t watched the news or read the paper or even payed attention to the outside world…
But, the snow is melting… This week is warming up, we will be in the 60’s by midweek! Which will bring a whole different experience that we may not be ready for either…
“There’s a patch of old snow in a corner That I should have guessed Was a blow-away paper the rain Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if Small print overspread it, The news of a day I’ve forgotten — If I ever read it.”
We don’t get “BIG” snow like this very often… Thank God! So many aren’t prepared for it! Power goes out, heat goes out, no water, etc, etc… I myself even lost one of my main greenhouses from the sheer weight of the snow… But, today I’m gonna try to focus on the Beauty of it all. Much of it from my window 😊 Its COLD out there 🥶
I just thought I would share a few pictures of what I think is a Beautiful, Winter Landscape. The “Entertainment of the day” the last few days has been sitting in front of the French doors and watching the birds eat the seed we’ve been throwing out. Even our dogs are glued to the ‘Theater of Life’ that’s just on the other side of the glass.
Good Morning! ❄️ Snow day today at Cartercountry! The walkways are icy and dangerous, so we are taking a “Snow Day” and closing up! We will reopen tomorrow- Saturday at our normal hours.

Our first snow ❄️ came a bit early this year! Pre-Thanksgiving snow is a rareity in the South for sure 😊 But don’t let it get you down! I try to enjoy the blessings and the opportunity’s as they come!
A snowy landscape is Beautiful! Get out and😊
Snow is very beneficial for our gardens too! Just a few things that snow does –
Snow brings nutrients to the soil! (Free Fertilizer!) – Nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur & more are captured in the snowfall and are then slowly released into the soil as it melts.
Snow ❄️ is a wonderful blanket that insulates and protects the soil and many plants from freezing damage.
Snow helps to recharge our groundwater!
Snow gives US a break from the garden too😇
Snowy weather brings the birds to your feeders! They come all day to eat, to get a drink and even bathe. I LOVE to photograph birds in our landscape and at our feeders. | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN
Enjoy this beautiful day while it lasts! We got an early taste of winter and for many of us, a day off 😉
