Time is so funny… Sometimes it drags on & other times it goes by so fast that you miss things. I say it all the time, but it seems like this year has gone by quicker than any year before 💨 Turn around and boom 💥 it’s Thanksgiving! We are hosting our family dinner here in a few days, so we have been busy straitening up, decorating and basically getting ready 🦃

After all these years of living and working and doing, the one thing I have figured out is, you have to be grateful for your blessings 🙏🏻 (Ps: I’m still working on it 😊)
With my hectic schedule it’s easy to push on and take things for granted just to get through this day and to the next… But you miss so many things in that process, the most important things. God, family, friends, rest, health & happiness can be glossed over and left in your wake… Maybe it’s like the spirit that comes over you at Christmas 🎅🏼 you want everyday to feel like that. ⭐️ Thanksgiving can be the same. I’m going to try to let my Gratitude exceed my expectations everyday and see what happens ❤️
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
~ William Arthur Ward
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 to Everyone!

I’m having my last cup of coffee for the morning and its fixing to get busy… We are hosting the days festivities and there is a LOT to do 😊 I’ve been listening to and watching the rain fall this morning, thinking about all I have to be thankful for… It’s quite a list! 🙏🏻 At the top are all my family and friends that truly enrich my life ❤️ I have been blessed to be able to live and work with the people that are most important to me in my life. Many of them will be here at our house later today, that is a true blessing🙏🏻 When I say the prayer later today I must also remember our soldiers and sailors that couldn’t be home with family today! I am very thankful for them and their sacrifices as well 🙏🏻

We live in the greatest nation in the world!
Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a beautiful week of nice Fall temps, enjoyed the peak of Fall color and got quite a bit of work done to boot… Today was a nice family day of preparing for the Holiday Season that is upon us 🦃🎄 We decorated a bit, went thru all the menu for Thanksgiving to take inventory and be ahead of the game. We also cooked up a big pan of Chicken and sausage gumbo 🥣

Even the dogs helped in the kitchen…

We are only a week and a half away from Thanksgiving😮 This season is just flying by 🌬

Im starting early this year! Im already in the Holiday Season 🎅🏻
Thanksgiving is Coming!

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! I for one know how many blessing I have in my life, and I am Thankful!
– Did you know that George Washington was the first president to make a formal proclamation for Thanksgiving?
“This National Thanksgiving Proclamation was the first formal proclamation of Thanksgiving in the United States. President George Washington declared Thursday, November 26, 1789 as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer.” 👇🏻

Heres the typed text –
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor, and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks, for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation, for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war, for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed, for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us. And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions, to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually, to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed, to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord. To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and Us, and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best. Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.
What an inspirational leader he was!
We all have a lot to be thankful for!
Enjoy this day of Thanksgiving!
God Bless America! 🇺🇸

The week of Thanksgiving is finally here! The menu is planned and the guest list is finalized. There’s only 1 change to the menu… An addition. A very rare addition for a Thanksgiving in fact…

When your getting to the end of the Tomatoes 🍅 it’s very important to do 2 things! #1 – Don’t Panic! #2 – Savor every last bite!
Like the song says – There’s only 2 things money can’t buy… True Love ❤️ and Homegrown Tomatoes 🍅
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃

It’s that time again. Time to make the annual menu for Thanksgiving dinner with family. It’s really simple to communicate with everyone nowadays via text and email to figure out the big questions – What, When & Where… But this year, for many of us, there’s another big question… How?! Some are distancing because of health reasons, some to keep the crowd size down as a preventative, and some are just staying out and requested a plate of food be dropped off for them… A very different Thanksgiving indeed… But still, I’m Thankful!
Now all that is done… Dinner at my house! I got ham again 😊 and sweet potatoes 🍠… and pecan pie 🥧… And, the responsibility of giving the Thanksgiving prayer 🙏🏻 How to put into words how I feel about all that I have to be Thankful for… PS; it’s a LOT! And yes, I’m Thankful for the opportunity!

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.”
~ John F. Kennedy
Here’s to the upcoming Holidaze…

Have you been outside today? Wow! It’s like a warm Spring morning out there! So beautiful. I went out and scavenged through what’s left of the tomato plants and found a few more good ones! 🍅💥 I love it ❤️ I brought them in and added them to the large group on the counter. Jo has put out some beautiful Thanksgiving decorations and was taking pictures and trying out some new editing apps. When I looked at them, I really got the feeling of Home. Seeing her simple picture made me feel good. My morning has been made 😊 Now, back to Sunday Brunch…

”The first supermarket supposedly appeared on the American landscape in 1946. That is not very long ago. Until then, where was all the food? Dear folks, local fields, and forests. It was near kitchens, near tables, near bedsides. It was in the pantry, the cellar, the backyard.

Have a great day! Get Outside!
