Yes! We have Hope!

Just a quick piece of advice from my viewpoint. Stop watching the news! The 24 hour news cycle will drag you down and steal your hope!

Instead, do something you don’t normally get to do while at home.. Do a puzzle! Play a board game ♟ Read a book 📚 Draw or paint 🎨 or go outside on the porch and listen to the birds sing 🐦

The birds are out in force feasting on seeds, berries & worms 🐛 It’s Springtime in Tennessee!

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

 ~ Emily Dickinson

Stay positive and keep your hope. This will be over sooner than later ❤️

stay·ca·tion • /ˌstāˈkāSHn/ • noun  INFORMAL
noun: staycation; plural noun: staycations; noun: stay-cation; plural noun: stay-cations
– A vacation spent in ones home rather than abroad.
A “Stay at home Vacation”? Sound familiar?
Well, you can’t go to Disney World right now, or out to eat or even to a movie! So, the way you look at it is ALL up to you… Lockdown or time off. Shelter at home, or a “Staycation”!

If you could take the family to Disney for the week, do you know what the average cost would be? Depending on how much discounting and coupons and deals you work out, expect to spend as much as $10,000.00! You keep the memories and the pictures of course.

– That my friends is another reason more and more people are Staycationing! They are putting in Water Gardens, swimming pools, patios, grilling stations, fire pits 🔥and creating Outdoor Living Space right in the comfort of their own backyard! And why not!? You can access and enjoy these areas day and night! They add to your daily enjoyment AND to your property value!

My personal Outdoor Living Area at night. The Pond is the centerpiece, surrounded by gardens both edible and ornamental with sitting and lounging areas, a Grilling station and a nice fire pit. I’m down for a “Staycation”! | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Check out my new Video 👇🏻Please subscribe

I am doing remote designs during this critical period of social distancing. We can discuss ideas on the phone or through email. You can send me pictures of your backyard areas and I can develop ideas and work up sketch’s that you can ‘Ponder’ 😊 For the future. Hopefully the not to distant future 😎

Thanks for reading and watching! Stay safe! And enjoy your Staycation.

Throwback Thursday | Staycations | #Staycation | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee

It seems we are staying home more and more now days… Forget dinner out! Forget flying to Disney! Forget that Vacation you’ve been planning since last year! So what do we do for fun? Break out the board games! Fire up the grill & get outside in your own Landscape! Can you say Staycation?!

This video was my very 1st. Video on YouTube! It’s still so relevant! Do you recognize that guy telling you how his backyard Pond changed his life? YES! That’s Bill Way! I miss his unique take on world events like we are seeing now! But believe me, he knew how to enjoy his leisure time at home 🏡 He loved to #Staycation!

My Point? Use this down time to be with family at home & try to make it fun. Try to get in the Staycation mindset 😎 I’ve been feeding my Koi, grilling, Netflixing, “Deep Organizing” and listening to a LOT of Jimmy Buffet 🎶 🌺 Don’t think of it as having to… Think of it as getting to 😊❤️

Have a safe and happy Thursday!

Client & Employee Health Policy Update | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Good Morning, here’s a health update from Cartercountry…

“The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has impacted and is continuing to impact our community. At Carters Nursery we value each customer relationship and see no reason, at the present time, to suspend our sales and design operations or otherwise cancel scheduled work.
We value the health and well-being of all individuals and want to do what we can to protect our employees, customers, and everyone with whom we do business. We are taking the following measures to keep safety as our top priority:
If we don’t shake your hand, please don’t take it as rude. We’re actually not shaking hands out of respect for everyone’s health right now.
Our office is disinfected for your safety and the safety of our team. Our retail office is open for sales & customer service, However, there is NO public restroom.
Sales representatives are sanitizing their hands before and after client visits.
Our employees will refrain from shaking hands or other close personal contact, with each other and with customers. We will keep an appropriate safe distance during conversations ( 6 feet is the recommendation).
Employees have been advised to stay home if they feel ill in any way. We are also bringing our own lunches to limit contact with restaurant employees.
While we typically enter your home to discuss your project, we will not be entering client homes for the next few weeks.
If the timeline on a project that is scheduled or waiting to be scheduled needs to change due to reduction in employee availability or other presently unforeseen circumstances, you will be contacted, and we will work with you to reschedule. We appreciate your understanding and patience. We are monitoring the situation closely by staying informed with the most up-to-date information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local Public Health authorities.”

Thank you,

Carters Nursery Management.

Thank You,

Washing your hands with warm soapy water for 30 seconds is the best way to stay clean. Hand sanitizer’s help, but washing is the best.

Social Distancing Is Real…

This Wuhan Virus has really caused a mess… Spring is finally here & everyone wants to get out and about! Spring break, Spring festivals, Florida beaches, March Madness, The Masters, Daytona… NOT SO FAST!

Data supports the idea that “Social Distancing” helps in an outbreak like we are experiencing. Does it suck? YES! BUT, it will save lives… Think of it as an extended Spring Break… A “Staycation” if you will.

FYI: We have canceled our Annual Spring Fest that we have hosted for 23 years! Our other Spring venues have shut down as well… No ‘Spring Fling’ for the Master Gardeners 😨 Even Disney World has closed… What does it all mean? I think it means we have to control our movements and actions for a little while to preserve the health of the country…

I copy pasted this from a good source. There is a live link to the CDC’s published guidelines here. Check it out 👇🏻

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued guidelines for “community mitigation strategies” to limit the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, which include recommendations for “social distancing”—a term that epidemiologists are using to refer to a conscious effort to reduce close contact between people and hopefully stymie community transmission of the virus.”

Washing your hands with warm soapy water for 30 seconds is the best way to stay clean. Hand sanitizer’s help, but washing is the best.

Dr. Ron Kirkland called in to the show yesterday (The 180) to talk about things that will help. Almost all were common sense & all benefit you greatly! Things like –

  •  Get 7-9 hours of sleep 😴
  • Drink Lots of Water 💧
  • Take Vitamin C
  • Eat Healthy!
  • Walk! Light exercise is good!
  • Get some sun! 20-30 minutes a day minimum!
  • Keep your hands clean! etc…

Hang in there, this too shall pass! Wash your hands, Cover your sneeze 🤧 & discipline yourself NOT to touch your face. Eat right and get plenty of rest. Sounds pretty doable to me… In the long run, this will make us stronger!

Sunday Reflections…

Thinking about the Awesome power of Nature this morning. Hurricane Barry has come ashore and is flooding from the Gulf Coast to points north… Including our area in Tennessee over the next couple days. Batten down the hatches!

Prayers for the people in the path of this Hurricane.

There is no way to stop or reason with a Hurricane… But if anyone could, it would be Jimmy B. 😊 This is one of my favorites off A1A…

Have a blessed week 🙏🏻 And stay dry 💦🌂
