Throwback Thursday | Pickled Peppers 🌶 & Guitar 🎸 Pickin’

This popped up as a Facebook Memory today and it’s very timely in more ways than one!

It’s pepper picking time! It’s also pepper pickling time if you have a bumper crop!

My friend and fellow guitar 🎸 picker Willi X Evans posted this on Facebook 7 years ago and it popped up as a memory this morning! Perfect timing in more ways than 1! Not only is it pickling season, it’s Moonlight Pond Tour 🌝 season as well! And Willi has played the music at more Pond Tours than any other band or musician! 💥 Come see Willi X – Live! at Carters Nursery Saturday, September 18th. For our Annual

  • Moonlight Pond Tour!

Here’s the Video 👇🏻

By the way, here’s Willi’s recipe for the Pickled Peppers 🌶

So here goes –
INGREDIENTS

Makes 4 — 8 ounce jars

4 8 ounce mason or ball jars with lids and seals

Approximately15 jalapeno peppers sliced

Approximately 8 Cayenne peppers sliced

2 Cups white vinegar

1 Cup water

1 tsp pickling or Kosher salt

4 Cloves of garlic

INSTRUCTIONS

Sterlize jars and lids by placing them carefully in a pot of boiling water for at least 15 minutes
Use tongs to remove jars and lids and place on a clean towel to dry
Prepare peppers by slicing them or piercing them
Make the brine by combining the vinegar, water and salt to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes
Meanwhile place the peppers in each of the 4 jars filling them up and place one clove of garlic in each
Pour brine over peppers in each jar (should be about 1/2 cup per jar)
Secure lids tightly on each jar
Bring water to boil in sterilizing pot again and submerge the 4 jars in pot — covering jars about 1/2 way
Let boil for about 30 minutes
Carefully remove jars from water with tongs and set to cool
As jars cool, listen for the lids to snap indicating a secure seal — if jar doesn’t seal, store in refrigerator
Wait a least a week before opening properly sealed jar and refrigerate after opening”

Have a great #Throwbackthursday!

Throwback Thursday | Old Memories Of Things To Come | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Summer is still in glorious season, but when you run a business you have to stay ahead of the changes… Which are coming quickly. In fact, Fall is just around the corner. When I think of Fall, I think of several things, but Pumpkins 🎃 Maybe #1! This throwback pic from several years ago brings back nothing but good memories… And a peak into our not to distant future 😊

Do you enjoy Fall? Fall planting, cooler weather and Jack-O-Lanterns 🎃 are coming!

This picture of my son and I is repeated every Fall and I’m looking forward to it 😊

Y’all have a great #Throwbackthursday evening!

Throwback Thursday

We’ve been redoing our greenhouse layout and it got me to thinking back several years when it was more than just a Greenhouse, it was a ‘Butterfly house’! So I dug up this old photo of one of our Butterfly programs. Talk about fun 🤩 I mean, everyone loves Butterflies 🦋

A great memory of Butterfly programs and Butterfly Releases past. That’s what #throwbackthursday is all about.

Enjoy your Throwback Thursday! 😊 Guess what? Here comes the weekend! 💥

Here’s a beautiful “Disappearing Fountain” that we built a few years back. I just love the old Spilling Bowl that creates the uppermost Waterfall. It just feels good… Here’s to Waterfalls!

This little Water Feature creates such an intimate feeling in the Garden. And the range of sounds that it produces is just amazing 🤩

What day is it? Come on , you know what day it is… That’s right! It’s Throwback Thursday 💥

Throwback Thursday…

I always enjoy looking back on #throwbackthursday. Today my memory is in full bloom.

I helped my Grandad dig this old azalea up decades ago.

As a young man, I spent much of my Summer time working with my Grandad. Gardening, working cattle and cutting, splitting and hauling wood 🪵 for the winter. A HUGE old oak tree fell in a lady’s yard during a storm. Grandad was called to cut it up and haul it away. So we did just that, and more.

The old Oak had fallen in a huge flower bed and destroyed a lot of plants. Including a big drift of these azaleas. She told us to take what we wanted if they were salvageable… So, grandma came over and picked out what she wanted and we dug em up and transplanted them to our home place. When Spring rolls around each year, this Azalea (the last one) is a living reminder of those times spent with my Grandad cutting wood and with my Grandma in the Garden ❤️

Here’s to family memories!
