Parasitic Wasps Help To Naturally Control Tomato 🍅 Hornworms

I LOVE ❤️ Homegrown Tomatoes! 🍅 Like many of you, I just hate when my plants are attacked by the dreaded Tomato Hornworms! They can devour a plant overnight and ruin your yields. So, I keep an eye on my plants daily & pick them off quickly… Unless I see one that has been visited by a parasitic wasp. Then, I just leave it be…

In a healthy, organic garden, don’t use chemicals! Let natural predators take care of business | Carter’s Nursery, Pond & Patio

Here’s a link to more info on this wonderful, natural predator, the Parasitic Wasp 👇🏻

Late season Tomatoes 🍅 are the best! I think we are in for a bumper crop of September, October & maybe even November Tomatoes 🍅! Organic just tastes better 😊

Sunday Reflections…

Tending my own garden as the sun comes up on A perfect Sunday morning… It don’t get much better than that 😊 There is something magical and healing in your garden, but you have to spend time there to find it… You have to sweat and toil and you have to sit down within, cool off and relax… Keep it up at all costs!

One of my places to sit “within my garden” is on my porch garden. All potted annuals and perennials, hanging baskets & vines. It creates a shady little nook with comfortable seating 😊 and a fan to boot. Down the steps on both ends lie my tomatoes, peppers, herbs and more. It’s not a hobby for me. It’s a lifestyle… Have a great Sunday!

“How I love my little garden, where I sit and contemplate.
My perfect piece of paradise inside my garden gate.
Hanging baskets, pretty pots, the flowers are brimming over.
The grass so green, the buttercups, the daisies, and the clover.

Honeysuckle and jasmine giving off its sweet perfume.
Pretty lilies open wide, rose bushes in full bloom.
In summer they stand tall and proud as the buds turn into flowers.
I sit and watch as they all flourish and while away the hours.

I see the little fledglings nesting high up in the trees.
Bees in and out the bushes with their variegated leaves,
Where they gather all the pollen, then soar into the sky.
They’re heading home at speed, returning to the hive.

The melody of the wind chimes as they tinkle in the breeze
Interwoven with gossamer cobwebs, at night the spider weaves.
The sunshine sparkles on the pond where the water lilies grow.
Golden fish and tadpoles swimming safely down below.

It’s all so very peaceful relaxing in the sun
Where the butterflies flutter by having so much fun.
The sun goes down and darkness falls, the moon is big and bold,
Where all that live in the garden have a story to be told.

The little gnomes are watching the pixies and the sprites
Dancing by the wishing well, aglow with fairy lights.
I can sit here contemplating until it’s very late
In this magical piece of paradise, inside my garden gate”

FRIDAY RADIO REPORT | PERFECT WEEKEND COMING RIGHT UP! |CARTERS NURSERY, POND & PATIO, JACKSON, TN

What a BEAUTIFUL day! AND – What a GREAT show today with Dan & Sea Bass – The 180 Crew! The weather has turned for the better and it finally looks and feels like Spring! This weekend is lining up to be the nicest of the year so far!

My question to  all of YOU is – What are YOUR plans? What are YOU gonna get out there and do this beautiful Spring weekend?

It’s going to be a BEAUTIFUL weekend! Are you gonna get out on the open road?

We had LOTS of calls and texts today! EVERYONE is excited about Spring! Here is a recap of the “Highlights” 🙂

  • What can I do about leaf spots on my shrubs and roses? This is a very common problem this time of year. Clean up and trim heavily infected stems and foliage. Rake up around & under the shrubs and roses and dispose of or burn – Don’t compost. Spray/treat with fungicide, Neem Oil, Lime Sulfur, etc… Water earlier in the day if needed and under water roses (keep foliage dry as possible).
  • How do I prep the soil for my tomatoes? I always move/rotate the planting area yearly. Amend the soil – till in some lime VERY important!), compost (mushroom compost &/or worm castings & composted manure (chicken or black cow). Don’t get it too hot with too much Nitrogen! So not too much manure, and I like to use 3-4 types of organic composts – it makes ALL the difference.
  • What is the lavender colored ground cover that you see blooming everywhere this time of year? Actually there are several… Creeping Phlox ie; Thrift – Phlox subulata, Vinca minor, Homestead Verbena, Wild Violet’s..? Send me a picture and I will id for you – email to – http://carterslandscape.com/wp/send-us-your-pictures/
  • When is the Summer Pond Tour? Saturday, June 23rd. 9am. – 4pm. Then we open back up for the annual after party, the “Moonlight Luau”! Live music, Kalua Pork, Tiki Torches and Waterfalls Galore!
  • Does my business provide Pond Maintenance? Yes we do! Full service – pond clean-outs, water testing, Trouble Shoot Leaks, Repairs, Replace Pumps, Lights, etc.. Plus we have a Retail Pond Shop that stocks and sells – filters, Plumbing & Parts, water Treatments, Live Fish, Fish Food, Pumps, Underwater Lights, and more…
  • Do I have Tomatoes available at the Nursery? Yes we do! We have tomatoes and several other vegetables as well as Annual and Perennial Flower, Hanging Baskets, Shrubs, Fruit Trees, Aquatic Plants and more.
