Carter's Water Garden

Sunday Reflection’s…

We woke up this morning to electricity ⚡️ Yes! Lights 💡 running water 🚿 ICE! 🧊 Wow 🤩 Not having these basics at your fingertips for just a couple of days is… Strange to say the least. We are so use to having them, we can completely take it for granted that they will always be there at the exact moment we need them…

80 MPH strait line winds are no joke! Think Hurricane… I was downtown in the radio studio when it hit – 💥 It shook the whole building! The roof on the building across the street started peeling off and flying down the street 🌬 Traffic cones and barrels were flipping down the street, cartwheeling into parked cars and flying through the air. Trees were snapping, so were the power lines! The signal went out, along with all streaming and phone lines. It was one of the worst storm scenes I have ever witnessed, and it was over in a matter of minutes.

This is the window I watched the debris blown hurricane force wind storm through ☝🏼 But I really saw the damage that was done on the ride home. Trees down everywhere! Power poles and lines down all over town. Debris, trash cans, barrels, toys, clothes, you name it were blown into piles everywhere you looked. Wow! Then when I got home… No power. I wasn’t surprised after seeing the level of damage. Luckily, no one here was hurt 🙏🏻 We had some damage, but nothing we couldn’t clean up and repair. Then we sat down and expected the power to pop back on any minute. But it didn’t. None Friday, none Friday night. So we were forced to close Saturday. No power all day… But, they did restore power over night and this morning, we had lights and water🚿 a HOT Shower was nice 😊

  • Thank you 🙏🏻 to all the hard working men and women who worked day and night for 2 days to clean all that mess up and get the town back up and running. We are fortunate to have dedicated folks to take care of business like this! ❤️

So what did we do to pass the time? Here’s a little video for ya’ Entertainment is where you find it 😊

“If it weren’t for electricity, we’d all be watching television by candlelight.”

Have a wonderful Sunday!

After The Storm…

The rising sun revealed varying amounts of damage. Some lost trees, lots of roof damage, hail damage on cars, limbs and debris all over… Thousands still have no power this morning. BUT, in many ways we dodged a bullet! I haven’t heard of any deaths related to last nights storms! 🙏🏻 And it really brought many people together helping each other out, checking on neighbors, picking up debris, etc…

Here are a few images that local people posted of storm damage and a map of power outages that are still being repaired.

All our local workers are cleaning up and repairing damage as I write this. Things like this really bring things into focus. We must all count our blessings 🙏🏻

Now, heres an old cliche’ for ya’… ”If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute, it will change”! Temps in the 70’s and tornados yesterday – Frost warning Tonight! 🥶

Cover tender plants, bring in house plants, etc… Frost in the AM!

Have a great day! Count your Blessings! Love thy neighbor! And cover your plants 🪴 😊

Sunday Reflections…

Crazy weekend! 75 degrees Friday gave way to 28 degrees the next day. Tornado weather! We have all seen the news of what happened across Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky and Illinois 😥🙏🏻 We have picked up around our place and counted our blessings that we were mostly spared. Prayers🙏🏻for all those effected🙏🏻 Many lost everything, including their lives. Tragedy doesn’t care if its almost Christmas…

Heres one way that ’You & I’ can help. Here’s a copy paste from The American Red Cross –

“Help people affected by the tornadoes by visiting redcross.org or calling 800-RED-CROSS. Donations directed toward tornado victims enable the Red Cross to respond to and help people recover from this disaster. This includes providing food, shelter, relief supplies, emotional support and other assistance.”

Prayers for all those affected 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The Cleanup Starts…

The snow has been beautiful to look at, BUT it also causes all kinds of problems… Bad roads are a given, but Big snow like we just received is extremely heavy! So heavy in fact that it can bring down roofs and even metal structures!

This greenhouse has been here for over 30 years. It has survived snows, ice storms, tornados and more! But this years BIG snow event was its end…

So now the cleanup begins! There are still 10 Koi tanks in there 😳 FULL of fish! I hope we can save them!

WOW! We got some work to do! I think we can save these fish… That’s my hope at this point.

Have a Great weekend!
