What a storm last night! the power went out around dark and shortly after a big storm hit ⛈ ⚡️ What a light show 😯 We were sleeping in a cabin with a tin roof… ie; We got some Good Sleep!

“Here in the deep tangled forest
All is quiet and still,
While far to the west the thunder,
Re-echoes from hill to hill.
And the lightning’s flash, ever vivid,
In great gashes knives the air;
The rain comes down in torrents,
A deluge everywhere!
Bathing the heat-sick flowers
That they may bloom once more;
Painting the grass a greener hue,
That grows by our cabin door;”

Enjoy this day ❤️

Hummingbirds are such unique creatures ❤️ They love the rain 🌧 I’ve been out since early, on my porch listening to the rain at first, then as the world lit up watching the Hummingbirds take turns feeding on sugar water nectar… I swept the porch off and even played my guitar for a little while.

Its gone down to a light sprinkle now & it feels so good, sounds so good, smells so good… I Love a rainy morning like this ❤️
“The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.”

As I was sitting this morning writing My blog, my phone chirped… Text message. It was my cousin Kim. She lives along the gulf coast not too far from where the approaching Hurricane Ida is coming ashore. Outer bands of rain are already creating localized flash flooding and the winds are strong. She said they are going to ride it out, told me she loved me and asked for prayers 🙏🏻

Hurricanes bring heavy wind and floods so they are always a threat. But my cousin Kim and her brothers and sisters grew up down there and they have rode out many a storm.

So today I’m gonna say a special prayer for Kim and all the folks down on the Gulf Coast. Ida is coming and she’s bringing a mess with her 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Your welcome to join me in saying a prayer for all the good folks down there as well 🙏🏻
“I have both the violent turbulence of the storm and the quiet promises of God in the storm. And what I must work to remember is that something is not necessarily stronger simply because it’s louder.”

We were making the rounds last evening, right before dark. Feeding Koi and enjoying the Gardens, when the light sprinkles started ☔️ We finally got in the golf cart to ride up to the house and I stopped for one last look 👀 So I made a little video as the rain really got started… Check it out. Talk about relaxing and a feeling of Zen…
There is nothing like the sound of a Waterfall! Except maybe the sound and, smell of the rain. I believe the word for the smell of fresh rain on the garden soil is called ‘Petrichor’…
“Petrichor : the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. The word is constructed from Greek petra (πέτρα), “rock”, or petros (πέτρος), “stone”, and īchōr (ἰχώρ), the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology.”
Combine those two things and … 🧘 Zen
Enjoy your day! 🌞

Rainy night followed by a misty morning. I’m starting to accept that Summer is on the way out… In just a little over a week is the autumnal equinox, and Fall will be officially here…
“The leaves of brown came tumblin’ down, remember
In September in the rain
The sun went out just like a dying ember
That September in the rain.
To every word of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play a sweet refrain.”
– September in the Rain
Have a great Sunday Morning 🌞

Why do I get up earlier than any other day on my 1 day off… ? My eyes 👀 pop open on Sunday morning (usually around 4:30’ish) & I’m wide awake! BUT, I’ve already done all my chores and I’ve got time to do a little pickin before everyone else is up – So I got that goin for me 😊
- Watering ✅
- Feeding my Koi ✅
- Took out trash ✅
- Chill on swing and do some picking 💥
- Dont forget to publish your blog ✅

After the chores and things are done ✅ and before breakfast 🍳 I found some time to do a little picking. It’s gonna rain 🌧 so I got that goin for me too 😊
There is some rain coming, I can smell it in the air. I’m gonna enjoy that as well!
“Whenever it rains, and its earthy scent — the petrichor — hits my senses, memories come flashing and I go back in time.”
Y’all have a great Sunday!

It’s been pretty hot as of late, 105-110 heat factors during the day. When you work out in the heat, you have to pace yourself. You start early and warm up with the day & drink plenty of water… Days like this teach you to enjoy the little things… A cooling breeze can feel like heaven 😊 But nothing is as nice as a –
Summer Rain
“A break in the heat
away from the front
no thunder, no lightning,
just rain, warm rain
falling near dusk
falling on eager ground
steaming blacktop
hungry plants
thirsty
turning toward the clouds
cooling, soothing rain
splashing in sudden puddles
catching in open screens
that certain smell
of summer rain.”
~ Raymond A. Foss
Have a blessed Sunday.
