This was a place of Zen for me for many many years… Sitting or laying in the shade of this old Hickory tree. It was a host to mistletoe and a home for many squirrels 🐿 including a large number of flying squirrels… And in the Fall the golden color was so beautiful…

This 200+ year old tree is gone now 😢 But I still remember it… And I can still find a quiet peaceful place of Zen sitting under a nice tree or in the woods. Try it today and enjoy some Fall beauty ❤️

What a beautiful morning 🌞 Sunday morning is the start of the new week, and quite the week is ahead… This week leads us to Saturday evening and our annual Moonlight Pond Tour 🌝 There is always so much to do! Ive been sipping coffee thinking about it and scribbling down a rough list as things come to me… Last minute kind of stuff, you know how it works, a ”few little details”… This = a week of Hard Work!

Last evenings perfect sunset was followed by a rising, waxing moon 🌙 So beautiful! This months Full Moon is the Harvest Moon 🌝 which means, the Moonlight Pond Tour is coming!

If you have ever made big plans with great intentions of success, you know what it means to have a ”few details” to take care of… “All we lack is finishing up”… ie; Gotta get to work!
Y’all have a great Sunday! See ya’ Saturday evening 😊
“Plans are only good intentions unless they immediately degenerate into hard work.”

Misty, foggy, overcast weather can be very relaxing, especially on a Sunday Morning… This morning has been fairly simple.
1st. I changed out my hummingbird feeders.

Then I fertilized the hanging baskets on my porch

then I decided to fix biscuits and gravy for breakfast 🍳

Y’all enjoy your day!
“One old wives’ tale says that every foggy day during August equates to a day of snowfall during the following winter. Some also use this tale in more general terms, meaning that if there is a lot of fog throughout the month of August, there will be a lot of snow throughout the upcoming winter.”

No sunrise to view this morning… A grey sky just became slightly brighter over time. But the birds woke up in turn, and the bees 🐝 came out and went to work as usual. This is my favorite part of the day! When I have the whole world to myself it seems… No phones, no demands, just the birds and the bees and some plants to attend too. Sunday morning and I’m in the right place…

Outside, there was that predawn kind of clarity, where the momentum of living has not quite captured the day. The air was not filled with conversation or thought bubbles or laughter or sidelong glances. Everyone was sleeping, all of their ideas and hopes and hidden agendas entangled in the dream world, leaving this world clear and crisp and cold as a bottle of milk in the fridge.

In this fast moving world, we are all looking for that stillness… I sometimes refer to it as a Moment of Zen. Many times I find it in waterfalls or the setting sun. Or on a quiet Sunday morning of solitude.

“At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshness; Neither from nor towards; at the still point, There the dance is, But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity, Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards, Neither ascent nor decline. Except for the point, the still point, There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.”
~T.S. Eliot

52 degrees this morning! We are 2 days from the Autumnal Equinox and it feels like an October morning 🍁 I’m just going to sit here and enjoy this feeling and get my mind to switch gears… Fall is here!
“Is not this a true autumn day? Just the still melancholy that I love—that makes life and nature harmonize.”
Have a wonderful Sunday and a beautiful week ahead! 🌞

Here’s my last Sunrise over the Gulf… What a calm & perfect morning! The water was so calm it was like a pond almost. So many people got their smaller boats out in the Gulf on this day! It was unbelievable seeing small fishing boats fishing up and down the beach. Awesome 🌞

What a beautiful, Zen like feeling you get from watching the Sunrise ❤️ Especially over the water or combined with the sound of a Waterfall! Enjoy your day.
Enjoy this beautiful day!

To me, there’s not a better way to start the day than the perfect Sunrise. And when its over a calm Gulf, and there’s not another soul in sight… Priceless! Perfect Zen…
I hope you enjoyed watching the sunrise with me, if only for a brief moment. 🌅

I’ve been sitting on a stump by the edge of a field since right after sunrise this morning, just thinking 🤔 Contemplating…
“Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean–
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down–
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?”
~ Mary Oliver

Stormy morning on the river. It limits what you can do, but it’s so nice in another way… The sound of the rain & thunder and the smell of the fresh air is wonderful! I’m gonna take what the good lord gives me and be thankful 😊
“The river and the garden have been the foundations of my economy here. Of the two I have liked the river best. It is wonderful to have the duty of being on the river the first and last thing every day. I have loved it even in the rain. Sometimes I have loved it most in the rain.“
Have a great Sunday!
