Sunday Reflections…

What a beautiful morning! Sunny ☀️ with a bluebird sky. It’s Groundhog Day & I saw my shadow… You know what that means, yep, I need to loose a few pounds 😮

If ground-hog day was bright and fair,
The beast came forth, but not to stay;
His shadow turned him to his lair,
Where six weeks more, he dormant lay
Secure in subterranean hold—
So wondrous weatherwise was he—
Against six weeks of ice and cold,
Which, very certain, there would be…

I may have seen my shadow, but old Punxsutawney Phil did not! What does that mean? Well, if you trust the worlds most famous rodent prognosticator, it means Spring is coming early!!! Boom 💥 What have I been saying – Spring IS Coming! 💐🍾🌈

Ok, back in the real 🌎 I have a game to prepare for! My team didn’t make it this year  (❤️ Titans) so I’m rooting for the Chiefs… The hard parts gonna be finding Super Bowl snacks that help slim my shadow 😎

Groundhog Day made me think about MY shadow… I guess it’s Crudité for Super Bowl snacks 😊

Have a great day! Go Chiefs! And here’s to an early Spring!

Traditions and Celebrations | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee

Traditions are important and some go way back! Our modern Groundhog Day has roots all the way back into ancient Ireland!

The Spring celebration of Imbolc was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. It marked the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox.

It also has history with early German settlers that came over in the 1700’s. They celebrated a similar holiday at the halfway point called Candlemas day.

Today, we’ve added our unique American spin to it & we call it Groundhog Day and a furry groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil is our go between… He checks the weather, and if it’s nice & sunny – No Joy! 6 more weeks of bad weather. But, if it’s raining or overcast, he see’s NO shadow – Bam 💥! Spring is coming quick!

No matter what you celebrate or believe, today marks the downhill roll towards Spring! My FAVORITE season of the year! Bring it 😊

Today is a day to celebrate indeed!

Have a great weekend! And, Happy Groundhog Day!

PS: My prediction- Spring will get here around the 20th of March 😉
