20 Years… Reflection & Rememberance 🙏🏻 #neverforget

Its been 20 year since that horrific day!

• 2,977 Americans were Murdered!

• 343 Firefighters died saving others! Many that survived are dying from cancer now at an alarming rate! Thank a Firefighter today…

BUT – We survived! We united! We rebuilt!

#neverforget!

I remember that day and i remember this timeline. It was a day we can never forget!

Its been 20 years now. My wife was pregnant with our son when it happened. He is 19 now, working and going to school. Many of his peers don’t know much about what happened on 9/11! Watch the memorials with them today, they will be on ALL day! Talk about what happened that day & how it made you feel! We owe it to kids and we owe it to our fallen brothers and sisters to Never Forget! Lets reflect on the bravery of our first responders and say prayers for all the lives lost 🙏🏻 #neverforget !

We need to pull together again! Like we pulled together on 9/12! We rallied together, and we were stronger than we could have imagined! Prayers for our country and our countrymen today! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

God Bless America! 🇺🇸

Sunday Reflections…

As I was sitting this morning writing My blog, my phone chirped… Text message. It was my cousin Kim. She lives along the gulf coast not too far from where the approaching Hurricane Ida is coming ashore. Outer bands of rain are already creating localized flash flooding and the winds are strong. She said they are going to ride it out, told me she loved me and asked for prayers 🙏🏻

Hurricanes bring heavy wind and floods so they are always a threat. But my cousin Kim and her brothers and sisters grew up down there and they have rode out many a storm.

That’s me in the redneck Santa hat with my sister and our Mobile Alabama cousins. We try to always get together around the holidays ❤️

So today I’m gonna say a special prayer for Kim and all the folks down on the Gulf Coast. Ida is coming and she’s bringing a mess with her 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Your welcome to join me in saying a prayer for all the good folks down there as well 🙏🏻

“I have both the violent turbulence of the storm and the quiet promises of God in the storm. And what I must work to remember is that something is not necessarily stronger simply because it’s louder.”

~ Craig D. Lounsbrough

Have a great Sunday afternoon ☀️

Sunday Reflections…

In this fast moving world, we are all looking for that stillness… I sometimes refer to it as a Moment of Zen. Many times I find it in waterfalls or the setting sun. Or on a quiet Sunday morning of solitude.

“At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshness; Neither from nor towards; at the still point, There the dance is, But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity, Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards, Neither ascent nor decline. Except for the point, the still point, There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.”
    ~T.S. Eliot

Have a great Day!

Sunday Reflections…

Losing a loved one, someone who is truly close to you is tough. The loss and sadness are a hard reality… I just recently lost my Uncle. We were very close. I have had a lot of emotion over his sickness and his passing… But knowing him the way I do, he wouldn’t want us to be sad or down about his death. He was a very spiritual person. And a very positive person. He always had a smile on his face and something nice to say, maybe something to make you laugh or smile 😊 An ‘Eternal Optimist’! And that is what I am going to focus on and remember the most about Uncle Doug!

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

Do You Believe In The Power Of Prayer 🙏🏻

I’m not one to take things right to Facebook or the internet… Especially family things. But, if you are a praying person, I ask you to say a prayer for a man that has been very special to me my entire life. His name is George Brinkley. Many of you know him from coming to our Nursery over the years. He was our “Koi Whisperer”… If you bought fish from us, you probably met and dealt with George. But to me, he has always been my Uncle Doug.
George is definitely a ‘Renaissance man’. He has traveled the country and many different places in the world. He was in Nuclear Power in the US Navy and later was a high level computer programmer and Electronic Engineer. A VERY smart man to say the least. A great photographer. An environmentalist. An experimental gardener and Yes, a Koi Whisperer… He gave all the high tech up to come work at my nursery. He always says he’s most at peace in our gardens.
George is fighting for his life against Covid. He is on a respirator and things don’t look well. He needs a miracle from God to pull through this thing. If you have a moment, please say a prayer for George’s Healing, his full Recovery and Gods Peace 🙏🏻

This is the only picture I could find with uncle Doug wearing a suit 😊 We were side by side at a wedding trying to catch something the groom throws over his shoulder…

If your not one to pray, pass this on by. But if you are, please do. I truly believe in the power of prayer 🙏🏻

God Bless

Today is Johnny’s birthdate. This isn’t really a birthday kind of song, but it will speak to you and maybe haunt you a bit as well. It does me…

Today Is Good Friday

He said “It is finished”, we didn’t understand that It had just begun. Be thankful for His sacrifice on this, Good Friday.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. – 1 Peter 2:24

Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection, not in books alone but in every leaf in springtime.  ~ Martin Luther

Peace & Love,

Ghost Town…

Social Distancing is apparently working now. I went to pick up a couple of things for family (curbside and click list only)… WOW! It’s like a ghost town out there.

This is a Saturday at 11am! About 8 cars in this 200 acre parking lot! WOW!

Almost no cars on the road, except for big trucks! I guess the silver lining is that the stores will be able to get restocked now…

Almost NO traffic! There are a few out on bikes or walking. Social Distancing is being taken seriously…

Please pray for the country! For all the folks that can’t work! And especially for all the people who have fallen ill to this terrible virus!

We will get through this! Lets stay vigilant through this fight for our families and for each other!

God Bless America!
