Good day to everyone! Just finished a great brunch and sat down to finish my Blog that I started late last night… We finished up our last event of the season last night, and it was a FUN one! A local artist and friend for over 30+ years, Matt Brown came to the nursery last night with a literal truck load of art and paintings and we set up our Nursery as his Gallery of Art 🖼 We called it ’Art in the Garden’ and it was a very unique and a very special evening. We even set up a ’Blacklight Room’ in the Koi Shack to showcase some of Matts unique pieces. I’ll tell the rest of the story with a few pictures of last night.
What a great evening! Matt and I have been friend’s for many years now, Maybe its because we both work with our hands to make unique, artistic creations? Our mediums are very different, but I think his Artwork within the gardens and by my Waterfalls was pretty Awesome! And it brought a bunch of people out to enjoy a night of Art and enjoyment, another win-win!
PS: We are gonna do this again! 💥

It’s almost here! It’s almost time for my favorite Summer Event – Our Annual Summer Pond Tour! Tickets are selling and people are getting excited!

The Biggest question I have been getting by far is, what’s up with the Luau… Whats it like? What should I wear? Etc… SO, I thought I would put together a little primer of sorts… A “Guide”, or set of tips to help with communications and etiquette… So, here ya go – A Top 5 “To-Do” list for ya’!
#1 – Smile and have a good time 😊 Your in a Garden with music, good food and Wonderful People! And you all just raised money that will help many, many Pets! THANK YOU ALL! Much Respect!
#2 – Dress comfortably & with a “Luau Flair” if possible 😊 (see rule #1 – have fun).
#3 – For FUN, let’s try to use the words “Aloha” and “Mahalo”. These are both really special Hawaiian 🌺 words and they will both apply tonight.
“Aloha” means many things, but it mostly means Hello and Goodbye 😊
“Mahalo” means Thank You! 🌺
#4 – It’s Good Luck to take your shoes off in the sand, so feel free to venture out on to “CarterCountry Beach” 😊
#5 – Appreciate and Enjoy A Lei – At a real Hawaiian 🌺 Luau, if someone gives you a Lei, it is a sign of peace and friendship. Its a tradition that goes back to the Polynesian Kings, and Hawaiian etiquette dictates that you accept it and wear it as long as you are in the presence of the one who gives it to you. At our Luau – EVERYONE GETS LEID!” 😂

Our ‘Summer’ Pond Tour (Always the Saturday after Father’s Day) is A FUN and Beautiful Day! This is a Self-Guided Tour and LOTS of Fun! Tickets are $20 ea. (children under 12 are FREE!). Carter’s Nursery is “Pond Central” for the Pond Tour and we invite you to come by throughout the day to sit a spell, have a drink & something to eat and look at the BEAUTIFUL Gardens and Water Features.
Saturday, June 22nd is the Day! Pond Tour tickets are $20 ea. (kids under 12 are FREE!). 100% of ALL ticket sales & donations go to the Jackson Animal Care Center!
~ This is the night of the “Moonlight Luau!” Live music! + We cook fresh pork wrapped in banana leaves & spiced up “Kalua Style” and have a party beneath the stars! This is a DON’T MISS event! WOW! What a great show today! We had a special guest today – Mrs. Laura Laman, ‘Herbalist Extraordinaire’! So we got to talk about all sorts of cool organic & homeopathic stuff! Things like –
- Essential Oils and their positive effects on our health!
- High PH Water and how it help cancer patients and YOU too! They sell it at our local “Grubbs Grocery”. The PH is 9.7 – 10 and it contains all sorts of minerals & things. It was interesting to find out NOT to drink it 30 minutes before OR after a meal. WHY? Because it is such a high PH that it will slow digestion… Before bed was a suggestion of a great time to drink it. Grubbs has it in stock and it’s $1/gal.
- There was a question – WHAT type of tree is a bonsai? He was surprised to find out that bonsai isn’t a particular type of tree – its a Japanese art form where you cultivate small trees in trays or containers that look like their full sized counterparts. You can use many types of plants to create a bonsai – oaks, beech, plum, azalea, pine, juniper, fig, etc… The word ‘Bonsai’ in Japanese means “Tree in Tray”. The art of Bonsai was developed from the older Chinese art of ‘Penjing’.
- Our 20th Annual Pond Tour was a big topic of discussion. Several people mentioned and commented about the Pond Tour as well the Moonlight Pond Tour. For those that don’t know, the pond tour is NEXT Saturday, June 23rd.! The Tour starts at 9am. and goes until 4pm. Then we open the nursery back up at 8pm. for the Luau – LIVE Music, Kalua Pork & the most beautifully lit Water Gardens and Gardens ever! The Pond Tour is a fund raiser for the Jackson Animal Care Center. Y’all Come!
This is the 20th. year for our Annual Summer Pond Tour! The Pond Tour supports JACAAC – The Pond Tour Date is June 23rd. (Saturday). Tickets are $20 and 100% goes to support the cause! Our Annual “Evening By the Pond” is coming up – I always host the 1st. one of the season here at the Nursery.
When? – Thursday, May 17th. at 6:30pm. Come out and enjoy a laid back evening exploring the beautiful gardens & relaxing by the ponds. We always enjoy some GREAT food, visit and meet with friends & we always have an educational program on Water Gardens, Aquatic Plants, Fish OR some cool subject for all that come. These little get together’s are held during the warm season and in different peoples backyard retreats.
