Carter's Water Garden

Throwback Thursday | Hey, I Remember You | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Yesterday I blogged about Waterfall Wednesday. I showcased a Water Garden we built over 25 years ago. Well, that Segway’s me into today’s Throwback memory. Water Gardens are pretty special! They touch all your senses at once… They also touch your heart ❤️ You literally fall in love with your Pond Fish! Especially the Koi.

I literally hand delivered these fish to this new Pond around 27 years ago 😳 They have grown and matured and literally become beloved, named pets!

I don’t know if it’s nostalgia or just an impeccable memory, but I literally remember these fish! It’s funny how you remember things sometimes… But this one makes me smile 😊

Have a great #throwbackthursday evening!

Throwback Thursday

Jo and I always celebrate our wedding anniversary by taking a few days off. Looking back and looking forward is very important for a good relationship! I am sitting in a marina having lunch with Jo as I type this 😊 we are swapping old pictures and I wanted to make this one my #throwbackthursday picture.

I love this picture! ❤️ My dad is my best man, and 3 of my best friends are with me as groomsmen (ps: we are all still great friends! Family ❤️). My wife is so beautiful 🤩 as are all her brides maids.

Throwback Thursday is always a special day.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday | #throwbackthursday | Watch That 1st. Step! | Jackson, TN

I was going through some stuff and came across this old matchbook and Boom 💥 Flashback 💥 I swear I could hear the crack of the break and the smell of draft beer 🍺 I was taken back to Buddies Place on Liberty street… Talk about a Throwback Memory 🤩

I spent much of my young life at Buddies. My Dad and my Uncle Carlis were up there constantly. Shooting pool and visiting with friends. Cecil was someone I always looked up too from the time I was a little boy. Mrs. Mary that ran the bar during the day was a close family friend and I grew up with her grandsons. Ricky and Professor were also like family.

Cecil always used matchbooks as his business cards. I found this one today and it really took me back. How many of you also called Buddies a second home? Literally a place where everyone knew your name and you felt good about being there 😊

Most of the old Southern Pool Rooms are gone now… There will never be another Buddies!
If you ever went up those stairs, you know what this means! Great #throwbackthursday !

Buddies was even memorialized in a George Dickel Whiskey ad… I wasn’t working there anymore when they shot this ad, but I was there that day and watched them do it. It was pretty cool 😎 They brought in a few props and things for the shoot, and it really captured the feel of the old place.

It’s always nice to look back on good memories. Throwback Thursday is one of my favorite days!

Have a great evening!

Old Friends Remembered

This day, 22 years ago Andy Johns was killed in a head on collision. I guess I will always remember that day… We had lunch that afternoon then rode around & caught up a bit. After he left my house he was going by to see his daughter before heading back home. He never made it, he was killed on the way back to Parsons down in Chesterfield bottom.

Friends to the end. Rest In Peace Andy 🙏🏻

I can’t count how many days we worked together, or how many games of pool we played. Andy was one of a kind and a true friend! I served as a Pallbearer along side his brother Shane and several other members of his family. I’ll never forget that day either…

Old friends never really die, they live on in our memories ❤️

Throwback Thursday Love

Being in a seasonal business like I am, I have learned to take our time off during the slow season. In other words, Winter… January usually finds me on a beach somewhere down On the Gulf Coast. I was looking through some pictures of vacations past and came across this one of my son and I standing on a beach together. The funny thing to me was, I remember the exact time and day it was taken. I remember the conversation we were having. I remember where we went for dinner that evening. Many times putting a Picture with a memory brings it all together and Boom 💥 You actually remember that moment and get to almost relive it. Maybe that’s why I enjoy #throwbackthursdsy so much.

My son and me on the beach watching a sunset together. We have watched many a Sunrise 🌅 and Sunset 🌇 together. Always special #throwbackthursdsy

Enjoy your day! Throwback Thursday sometimes let’s you glance back for a moment, to gain clarity on what to look forward to again…

Throwback Thursday…

Way way back when I had a head full of red hair👨🏻‍🦰Jo hasn’t changed much in all these years… At least not as much as I have 😊

Way back when I had more hair on my head than my face 😂 #throwbackthursday

I have grown to Love posting these old pictures for Throwback Thursday! A picture is truly worth a thousand words.

Throwback Thursday | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Here’s a #throwbackthursday picture that’s near and dear to my heart ❤️ My son (also my youngest uniformed employee 😊). He Loved flowers as a child! And he still does… We got this picture of him in a large grouping of Coneflowers. They are still one of his favorites.

My boy taught me a LOT about “Stopping to smell the roses”… Cone flowers in this case 😊 I came across this one and had to use it for today’s Throwback Thursday Picture ❤️

Throwback Thursday is always a good day! I hope you enjoy yours!

A Fun & Safe Way To Share & Inspire | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee

There’s so much negativity out there right now… It’s hard to find a good story or an inspiring picture… That’s why many of us have been posting certain pictures on our Facebook pages.

Heres How YOU Can Play!

Copy/paste the text below & a picture as per directions. I’ve been doing it every day! 👇🏻

“Join the challenge of posting a picture of some landscape from a place where you’ve been, where the main requirement is that you NOT appear in it. Just a picture, no description. The goal is to flood profiles with landscape photos to give a twist on the situation we’re going through.
Copy the text to your status, post a photo and let’s travel virtually!!”

I have a LOT of pictures from beautiful places that I will be posting daily! Like this one 👇🏻

I took this one in a kayak on Birdsong Creek. I am going to post one every morning on my Facebook page! Check it out 👇🏻 https://www.facebook.com/mark.carter.775

This is something we can all do. Spread some Beauty during this time of crisis!

I hope you will enjoy the pictures I post 😊

Y’all stay safe & God Bless! 🙏🏻

Throwback Thursday…

It’s #Throwbackthursday again & I wanted to throw a spotlight on one of the coolest “old salts” that I ever had the pleasure to know. B. Jacob ‘Cutch’ Millard. He was my wife’s Grandad, who actually raised her which made him my defacto Father in law. He was from the “Greatest Generation” & served his country in WWII, Korea & Vietnam.

A few photos of a Great man! Cutch served for well over 30 years and saw action in WWII, Korea & Vietnam. He loved the bottom right picture with Eleanor Roosevelt. He was a great American!

Old Cutch mustered out of the Navy in the mid 70’s and returned to his Tennessee home. He was a proud Husband, Father, Grandpa & Great Grandfather. He lives on today in our hearts, in this #Throwbackthursday post & through his family, including our son Jacob, who bears his sir name.

Heres to ya’ Cutch! #Throwbackthursday!

Have a great day!
