I have literally suffered from “Winter Depression” most of my life. It’s something many of us go through every Winter season… Short days, nothing much to do outside, cold and dreary for months on end… BUT, Spring arrives and slowly but surely, the Winter Blues turn into Spring Smiles ๐Ÿ™‚

I have found a wonderful new treatment that helps to accelerate the transition from Winter blue to Spring happiness – It’s called ‘Nurseryfix’ (patent pending)….

Of course this is a joke – but not really… Getting out on a day like today and going to a local Garden Center or Botanic Garden and smelling the roses makes you feel fine! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the hummingbirds are swarming around the feeders and the whole world is in bloom!

Blooming Annuals, Perennials, Aquatic Plants, Hanging Baskets and so much more await you at Carters Nursery!

I’ve been out since before the sunrise and only came back in to write this blog… I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you enjoy this beautiful weekend in YOUR garden ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s exactly what I’m going to do!

Throw Back Thursday Plants | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

As you know Thursday on Facebook is considered “Throwback Thursday” by many… People across the globe post old photos of family, friends, pets, etc. – memories of all kind. I have posted many myself ๐Ÿ™‚ This morning I was looking over the gardens around the nursery and saw that the Iris’s are starting to bloom. These ‘Bearded Iris’ (Iris germanica) are very special to me and bring back a lot of memories. It made me think about the Throwback Thursday thing …

You see the Iris blooming in the lower portion of this picture. My Great Grandmother planted these when I was a young boy. Definitely a ‘Throwback Thursday’ memory for me. | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

The Iris is our State Flower in Tennessee.ย ย The Iris takes its name from the Greek word for rainbow, which is also the name for the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris – pretty cool!

The Iris was designated the Tennessee state cultivated flower by the Legislature in 1933. My Great Grandmother remembered when that occurred – She was born in the late 1800’s.

Do you have any old ‘heirloom plants’ that bring back memories? Some folks call them ‘Memory Plants’… I have many around the nursery that do just that. I actually remember the day that my grandparents started developing that flower garden. It’s still there all these years later ๐Ÿ™‚ To me, thats the ultimate ‘Throwback Thursday’!

Many of the plants in the gardens around the nursery were planted by older family members that are gone now… It’s nice to watch them grow and bloom every year. So many memories have been made in the garden. | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Here’s to Happy Garden Memories! and Iris’s ๐Ÿ™‚
