2022 is almost here! To ring it in we will eat the traditional New Years meal with our family on Saturday… At our house to boot! Which means I have last minute prepping to do!
I am cooking the turnip greens and the black eyed peas again this year. Both are equally important! Without a little luck and a bit of money, its tough to make a “Happy New Year”…
For those that don’t know, each New Years food has a symbolic meaning.
Greens represent… Yes! MONEY! Makes sense to me.
Cornbread represents… GOLD! ie: More $$$! BAM!
The Hog Jowl, or Pork represents health and affluence.
And finally Black Eyed Peas = LUCK! Pass The Peas Please!!!
Im looking forward to New Years dinner, its always a fun family meal 🥘 I’m very hopeful for the coming year! But in reality I know that 2022 will only be as good as we make it… Lets work hard ❤️

Time flies when your having Fun! And this year has been a good one! We have enjoyed a beautiful, lush Spring season! Perfect in so many ways 😊 Now, we move into Summer & for the last 21 years that has meant 1 thing… Pond Tour Time! 💥
Our annual Summer Pond Tour is always the Saturday after Fathers Day! Saturday, June 22nd is the day! Get your tickets Today!

The Biggest question I have been getting by far is, what’s up with the Luau… Whats it like? What should I wear? Etc… SO, I put together a little primer of sorts… A set of tips to help with communications and etiquette… So, here is a little list for ya’!
#1 – Smile and have a good time 😊 Your in a Garden with music, good food and Wonderful People! And you all just raised money that will help many, many Pets! THANK YOU ALL! Much Respect!
#2 – Dress comfortably & with a “Luau Flair” if possible 😊(see rule #1 – have fun).
#3 – For FUN, let’s try to use the words “Aloha” and “Mahalo”. These are both really special Hawaiian 🌺words and they will both apply tonight.
“Aloha” means many things, but it mostly means Hello and Goodbye 😊
“Mahalo” means Thank You! 🌺
#4 – It’s Good Luck to take your shoes off in the sand, so feel free to venture out on to “Carter Country Beach” 😊
#5 – Appreciate and Enjoy A Lei – At a real Hawaiian 🌺Luau, if someone gives you a Lei, it is a sign of peace and friendship. Its a tradition that goes back to the Polynesian Kings, and Hawaiian etiquette dictates that you accept it and wear it as long as you are in the presence of the one who gives it to you. At our Luau – EVERYONE GETS LEID!” 😂

It’s almost here! It’s almost time for my favorite Summer Event – Our Annual Summer Pond Tour! Tickets are selling and people are getting excited!

This week we had several great calls/questions!
- Leyland cypress problems! Dead spots, etc… Why and what can I do? This has become all to common. This is a big reason that many are advising against planting Leyland Cypress all together. Disease has become common among the Leyland. Especially Bot and/or Seiridium Canker. Limbs turn yellow to grey and/or completely die. You can normally find sunken cankers oozing sap around the main stem. You can’t spray to treat this disease! You can only try to keep them healthy and happy… Including irrigating them during dry weather. Drought stress is VERY bad for these trees.
- Do we still have flowers and hanging baskets? YES! We are loaded with beautiful flowers 🙂 Y’all Come!

I was just talking to a couple at the Nursery who bought some Pond Tour tickets. They are excited about going on the Tour! They want a Water Garden of their own and are hoping to get some ideas on the Pond Tour 🙂 That made me happy too! I LOVE it when folks do their homework and learn about the possibility’s before I come to meet with them to design the Water Garden of their dreams! They have been wanting to go on the Pond Tour for several years now and FINALLY have a free weekend to attend. As they were leaving I said, don’t miss the Moonlight Luau, it’s gonna be fun! They looked puzzled… WHAT is the Moonlight Luau they asked?
