Carter's Water Garden

Waterfall Wednesday | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

What a beautiful day! Kinda cold 🥶 this morning, but a gorgeous sunrise and the birds are singing and the whole world is in bloom it seems 🌺 Perfect setting for a #waterfallwednesday.

Today’s offering is a recent Waterfall “Re-do”. We call them “Facelifts” 😊 Check out this before and after…

The homeowner loved the sound of the falls, but not the look… So he called us in to talk Redesign. We tore it all down, added proper filtration, a new liner and built them a proper Waterfall. What do you think?

These jobs are many times the most fulfilling. We turn a problem into your favorite thing about your backyard 😊 Feels good!

I hope you all enjoy the day! Life is too short not too ❤️

Peace ✌🏻 Love ❤️ and Waterfalls 🌊

Waterfall Wednesday | Carters Nursery, Pond and Patio | Jackson, Tennessee

Some people call it Hump Day… I call it #waterfallwednesday (In the voice of Carl)😂

Yes, we again find ourselves at the midpoint of another week, and as they say “It’s all downhill from here”… Maybe that’s why Wednesdays and Waterfalls work so well together? They both flow downward to an end 😊

This is Luna standing by one of our Waterfalls. She is a beautiful calico (one of our “Nursery Rescues”) and loves to be right there with you when your out around the nursery.

You have probably seen this kitty cat 🐈 before and this Waterfall as well, but, not as much as I have 😊 And I still just love both of em’❤️
So enjoy your Wednesday! It’s all downhill from here… #waterfallwednesday

Monday Morning Moment of Zen | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee

Don’t blink 👁 … It’s Monday once again! “Got anymore of that Weekend”??? The older I get, the more I become ‘pro 3 day weekend’ 😊 Thank goodness for my Waterfalls! This time of year, as everything is waking up, coming out and the weather is getting warmer, I’m out by my Ponds and Waterfalls more and more. My Waterfalls and Koi make mornings and evenings so much more relaxing and bearable. Especially on a busy Monday morning…

Enjoy this Little ‘Moment of Zen’…

Let’s all have a wonderful Monday morning!

Monday Morning Moment Of Zen

I don’t know about you, but I could use a little Zen today. I sat by this Pond over the weekend to think about what’s been going on over the last few days. This was my Grandma’s Pond and Waterfall and it really speaks to me when I need a little piece of mind. I hope in this little snippet you will see and hear what I’m talking about.

Within a matter of minutes the sound of the Waterfall and the swimming Koi just melt the tension away. I can feel my heart rate slow and my mind relax. A Waterfall is a Magical thing…

Have a great week!

Waterfall Wednesday | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Germantown, TN

Yes, it’s already #waterfallwednesday again… And I wanted to share this beautiful little waterfall. Is it a natural Waterfall? Or, did I design and build it? In other words… “Is it live or is it Memorex”?

Drum 🥁 Roll… We actually designed and built this one several years ago in a shady backyard in Germantown Tennessee. Boom 💥

That is why it’s so important to use specimen quality stone! Native Aquatic Plants are a big part as well! And don’t leave out drift wood, mossy stumps and the like, they make it so much more ‘Naturally Beautiful’!

Enjoy your day! #waterfallwednesday!

Winter Waterfall Beauty | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

I just LOVE my Waterfalls and my Pond! And I get to enjoy the beauty year round! All 4 seasons bring something special to my life. This bitter cold and snow is rough, in one way, but in another it brings extreme beauty to my door! It’s not safe to be out on the roads right now, but here in my Landscape… It’s all good 😊

I hope this morning finds you safe and warm! It’s very cold 🥶 out there… But seeing my ‘Winter Wonderland’ somehow makes it better… More beautiful. More bearable… And I know that this is really the foothills of the coming Spring! And I am ready!

Be careful out there!

Waterfall Wednesday | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

2021 is moving right along and here it is, already #waterfallwednesday! I thought I would share one of my personal Waterfalls today…. I have a bunch, a collection, an… obsession 😊 Yes, I have a problem… I guess I should introduce myself.
Hello, my name is Mark Carter & I am a Waterfallaholic 😇

This is one of my favorite Waterfalls. It’s so simple… Moss covered and flowing out from under a big old Cedar Tree Stump. It’s the headwaters to a long flowing stream that feeds a beautiful Koi Pond. Whew 😅 I’m glad I got that off my chest. And I hope y’all enjoy Waterfalls as well! But be careful, they are addictive… Enjoy with moderation 😎

Have a great evening!

PS: Do you know the difference between a Waterfall ‘Enthusiast’ and a “Waterfallaholic”???
Answer : Waterfallaholics go to meetings…

Monday’s and Waterfalls…

I’ve been up since early, but never found time for my BLOG today… I normally try to share a Waterfall on Mondays, so instead, how about one of my favorite poems about a special waterfall 😊

“Whenever I plunge my arm, like this,
In a basin of water, I never miss
The sweet sharp sense of a fugitive day
Fetched back from the thickening shroud of grey.
    Hence the only prime
    And real love-rhyme
    That I know by heart
    And that leaves no smart,
Is the purl of a little valley fall
About three spans wide and two spans tall
Over a table of solid rock
And into a scoop of the self-same block;
The purl of a runlet that never ceases
In stir of kingdoms, in wars, in peaces;
With a hollow, boiling voice it speaks
And has spoken since hills were turfless peaks.”

“And why gives this the only prime
Idea to you of a real love-rhyme?
And why does plunging your arm in a bowl
Full of spring water, bring throbs to your soul?”
“Well, under the fall, in a crease of the stone,
Though where precisely none ever has known,
Jammed darkly, nothing to show how prized,
And by now with its smoothness opalised,
    Is a drinking-glass:
    For, down that pass,
    My love and I
    Walked under a sky
Of blue with a leaf-wove awning of green,
In the burn of August, to paint the scene,
And we placed our basket of fruit and wine
By the runlet’s rim, where we sat to dine;
And when we had drunk from the glass together,
Arched by the oak-copse from the weather,
I held the vessel to rinse in the fall,
Where it slipped, and sank, and was past recall,
Though we stooped and plumbed the little abyss
With long bared arms. There the glass still is.
And, as said, if I thrust my arm below
Cold water in basin or bowl, a throe
From the past awakens a sense of that time,
And the glass we used, and the cascade’s rhyme.
The basin seems the pool, and its edge
The hard smooth face of the brook-side ledge,
And the leafy pattern of china-ware
The hanging plants that were bathing there.

“By night, by day, when it shines or lours,
There lies intact that chalice of ours,
And its presence adds to the rhyme of love
Persistently sung by the fall above.
No lip has touched it since his and mine
In turn therefrom sipped lovers’ wine.”

~ Thomas Hardy

See y’all tomorrow 😊
