The Art Of “Happy Little Waterfalls” | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee

This is our 31st year of doing business! As you know we design and build Custom Water Features. I tell people all the time that  “Waterfalls are my business, and business is good”! So true 😊 Waterfalls are also my Art. Building waterfalls is so much more than just arranging stones and boulders… You have to have an Artists eye 👁 to build something that resonates. A feature that makes you stop and just, absorb all the elements. When you pull that off, in my opinion, you have become an artist…

People tell me I’m an artist all the time. So I’m embracing it! Bob Ross hair and all! I ❤️ My Art! | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

The old saying goes, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”…  My new saying is going to be,

“I don’t work, I create Happy Little Waterfalls” 😊 Boom 💥

I ❤️ My Job! I ❤️ My Crew! And – I ❤️ My Art!

Thanks for all your support the last 31 years! ❤️

Have a Great Day!

Old Friends & Rock N’ Roll Music 🎶

This day, 21 years ago Andy Johns was killed in a head on collision. I guess I will always remember that day… We had lunch that day and rode around and listened to some music & caught up. Rock n’ Roll 🎸 was Andy’s favorite. I heard the same song that he was always rocking out too this morning 😊

Andy was a proud father and a good friend! Rest In Peace old pal!

Here’s a little tribute. The two songs that I know that were Andy’s favorite 😊

Rest In Peace bro. ❤️

My Blog, My Public Journal…

Good morning! Well, it’s official… I’m a Blogger geek! At least that’s what my wife and son say 😊 This is my 3rd year doing a daily Blog & I don’t really see an end in sight.

Most Journals are private, this one is public. Published daily…

Many people write a daily journal or diary to get their thoughts recorded. I guess that’s what my Blog is in a way. It’s part life experience, part education & hopefully partly entertainment for others… In any case, it has become a passion & a daily activity that drives me to type & photograph & record things in my daily life. I’m not in any way comparing myself to one of my favorite writers, Thoreau, but I love and identify with this quote of his 👇🏻

“My Journal is that of me which else would spill over and run to waste, gleanings from the field which in action I reap. I must not live for it, but in it for the gods. They are my correspondent, to whom daily I send off this sheet postpaid. I am clerk in their counting-room, and at evening transfer the account from my day-book to ledger. It is as a leaf which hangs over my head in the path. I bend the twig and write my prayers on it; then letting it go, the bough springs up and shows the scrawl to heaven. As if it were not kept shut in my desk, but were as public a leaf as any in nature. It is papyrus by the riverside; it is vellum in the pastures; it is parchment on the hills. I find it everywhere as free as the leaves which troop along the lanes in autumn. The crow, the goose, the eagle carry my quill, and the wind blows the leaves as far as I go. Or, if my imagination does not soar, but gropes in slime and mud, then I write with a reed. “
~ Henry David Thoreau

Have a great Tuesday!

PS: I’m off to speak for a Garden Club ❤️ Wish me luck!

Sunday Reflections…

Rainy night followed by a rainy morning. I’ve been sipping coffee since early, thinking about the holidays and all the family we got to see and all the stuff we did. We are having one more late holiday get together with some out of town family and then it’s all about New Years!

Only a few days left in this decade! What will I do with them…

Today is the last Sunday of the year! Last Sunday of the decade to be exact! It’s been a good year! Fast but good. I have started a list of goals for 2020. #1 in the list, spend more quality time with family and friends. The more I think about it, that’s a goal worth striving for.

Have a great Sunday with family and friends!

New Years is Coming!

Sunday Reflections…

I have had a great birthday weekend! I got up early this morning, had coffee & started breakfast so everyone would wake to a great smell. Payback of sorts 😊 Jo & Jacob both went above & beyond what I expected for my birthday the last couple of days. Lots of friends & family went out of their way to let me know they cared! From Facebook, emails, texts, cards, pies, cakes & calls, I was blown away by the Love and Well Wishes from friends and family. I’m Blessed!

Sunday breakfast with family & friends is one of the high points of the week to me 😊

“We all have a cherished garden we tend –
It is planted with love of family and friends.
The memories and dreams we treasure and share
Are like beautiful roses found blooming there.
The comfort and care on which we depend
Is given with love between family and friends.
The sunshine of laughter and rain of a tear
Only make our love grow with each passing year.
We may all be ourselves with no need to pretend
Because of the love of family and friends;
They notice the rainbows and weather the showers.
They overlook weeds and praise all our flowers.
The most valuable thing is the time that we spend
Tending this garden with family and friends.
When counting our blessings, we know from the start
That family and friends come first in our heart.”

Thank God for Family & Friends ❤️
