Throwback Thursday | Pickled Peppers 🌶 & Guitar 🎸 Pickin’

This popped up as a Facebook Memory today and it’s very timely in more ways than one!

It’s pepper picking time! It’s also pepper pickling time if you have a bumper crop!

My friend and fellow guitar 🎸 picker Willi X Evans posted this on Facebook 7 years ago and it popped up as a memory this morning! Perfect timing in more ways than 1! Not only is it pickling season, it’s Moonlight Pond Tour 🌝 season as well! And Willi has played the music at more Pond Tours than any other band or musician! 💥 Come see Willi X – Live! at Carters Nursery Saturday, September 18th. For our Annual

  • Moonlight Pond Tour!

Here’s the Video 👇🏻

By the way, here’s Willi’s recipe for the Pickled Peppers 🌶

So here goes –
INGREDIENTS

Makes 4 — 8 ounce jars

4 8 ounce mason or ball jars with lids and seals

Approximately15 jalapeno peppers sliced

Approximately 8 Cayenne peppers sliced

2 Cups white vinegar

1 Cup water

1 tsp pickling or Kosher salt

4 Cloves of garlic

INSTRUCTIONS

Sterlize jars and lids by placing them carefully in a pot of boiling water for at least 15 minutes
Use tongs to remove jars and lids and place on a clean towel to dry
Prepare peppers by slicing them or piercing them
Make the brine by combining the vinegar, water and salt to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes
Meanwhile place the peppers in each of the 4 jars filling them up and place one clove of garlic in each
Pour brine over peppers in each jar (should be about 1/2 cup per jar)
Secure lids tightly on each jar
Bring water to boil in sterilizing pot again and submerge the 4 jars in pot — covering jars about 1/2 way
Let boil for about 30 minutes
Carefully remove jars from water with tongs and set to cool
As jars cool, listen for the lids to snap indicating a secure seal — if jar doesn’t seal, store in refrigerator
Wait a least a week before opening properly sealed jar and refrigerate after opening”

Have a great #Throwbackthursday!

Throwback Thursday | Memories | Looking Back | Looking Forward

#Throwbackthursday is always a look back at something special. A great job, or accomplishment, a great moment or a great memory. Today is no different 😊❤️

This one is 6 years to the day! Jacob, scout and I on a boat, watching the sunset 🌅 picking guitars. It don’t get much better than that…
Another great moment with my son. He got to meet and hang out a little bit with one of his musical idols – Paul Thorn. This was 3 years ago.

Looking back is Awesome! Especially with memories like this 😊 The road forward is exciting as well ❤️

Have a great Throwback Thursday!

Throwback Thursday Love

I found this one and it brought back some great memories! Jo, Jacob, me and scout when she was just a pup on a boat at the river enjoying a beautiful sunset… Don’t get much better 😊

I just love #throwbackthursday!

Have a great evening!

Sunday Reflections…

Why do I get up earlier than any other day on my 1 day off… ? My eyes 👀 pop open on Sunday morning (usually around 4:30’ish) & I’m wide awake! BUT, I’ve already done all my chores and I’ve got time to do a little pickin before everyone else is up – So I got that goin for me 😊

  •  Watering ✅
  • Feeding my Koi ✅
  • Took out trash ✅
  • Chill on swing and do some picking 💥
  • Dont forget to publish your blog ✅

After the chores and things are done ✅ and before breakfast 🍳 I found some time to do a little picking. It’s gonna rain 🌧 so I got that goin for me too 😊

There is some rain coming, I can smell it in the air. I’m gonna enjoy that as well!

“Whenever it rains, and its earthy scent — the petrichor — hits my senses, memories come flashing and I go back in time.”
  ~ Shon Mehta

Y’all have a great Sunday!

Sunday Reflections…

Do you ever get so immersed in something, that time just disappears. This morning I grabbed my guitar 🎸 and sat down on the porch to watch the sky light up & started picking around on it, the next thing I knew, it was 8am… 2 1/2-3 hours were gone 🤔 It felt like 5 minutes… Where does that time go? And wouldn’t it be Awesome if we could go there on command… 😮

I found a moment of zen that last 3 hours…

“Do not speak to us of the greatness of poetry,
Of the torches wisping in the underground,

Of the structure of vaults upon a point of light.
There are no shadows in our sun,

Day is desire and night is sleep.
There are no shadows anywhere.

The earth, for us, is flat and bare.
There are no shadows. Poetry

Exceeding music must take the place
Of empty heaven and its hymns,

Ourselves in poetry must take their place,
Even in the chattering of your guitar.”

  ~ Wallace Stevens

Have a great Sunday!
