It’s #waterfallwednesday y’all! My Favorite Day of the week! This Fabulous little Pondless Waterfall was put here as a unique focal point in the forefront of a plant screen… PS: we didn’t want it to look like a hedgerow or “screening plants”… Boom 💥 Not only does it look great 24/7 thanks to the Landscape lighting, it sounds wonderful as well 🎶
We even put a small “seat boulder” there at front left for the “Perfect Picture” 😊
This is a recent Water Feature that I just love ❤️ It really transformed a boring area of the landscape. Now, it’s the Central Focal point of the entire area. At night the lights come on automatically and really throw some magic 💥 PLUS : The sound is beyond compare 😘 | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
I hope your Waterfall Wednesday goes well! From here, it’s all downhill to the weekend 😉
Are you on Facebook? If not, you might find this interesting 🤔 If you are, then you know of what I speak… Everyday I get a picture that I personally posted, usually years ago, it just pops up in my home feed, it’s labeled as a “Facebook Memory” and it tells you exactly how many years ago that you originally posted it. Then you get to look back through the comments and likes, and if you want you can share it as a Story or to your feed and friends. At first, I didn’t know what to think about it, but I have grown to enjoy them and I usually share them again.
These pictures of our work that I have posted from years ago, just pop up as a “Facebook memory”… Actually pretty cool 😎 | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
Today’s memory was 3 years old. A couple of days ago it was a 7 year memory that I had forgotten about…
What do YOU think 🤔 about the way social media like Facebook has changed our daily lives? How, if any, has it changed yours?
“Memories, brought to you by Facebook”…
Screenshot of what it looks like on your device. Do you look at these? Do you find it charming, or invasive? Just asking…
I have grown to think that it helps me share what I do. Our work at Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio is so visual! It’s hard to describe what we build so that you can form an accurate picture in your minds eye… So that picture you see, of what your backyard could actually look like, is worth a thousand words…
I’m writing this outside and it’s starting to rain 🌧 I hope you enjoyed it 😊
I LOVE ❤️ my Pond! And I love to pass along great ideas and Pond Tips that will help YOU keep your Pond crystal clear and LOW maintenance! Here’s a good one, especially if you have had problems with string algae in the past.
– What if I told you there is a gadget that will not only reduce string algae, it will all but eliminate it… Would you be interested in That?
Have you ever had a bad outbreak of string algae? The water is crystal clear, but there is string algae in your waterfall and stream… There is a solution! | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
This little gadget ionizes copper into your system, virtually eliminating string algae! Plus – it’s safe for your fish and your other pets 💥
This little beauty will do the job on strong algae! Simple to install and what a time saver💥
The only thing you have to replace is the copper probe, it will normally last an entire year, maybe longer!
This is the copper probe that is ionized into the water column. You normally replace 1 time per season & you can say bye-bye to string algae! We sell these units at the Nursery! | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee
A cure for problem string algae! Boom 💥 That’s my Pond Tip for Tuesday! 😉
As a ‘Pond Enthusiast’ I am always looking for ideas & tips to keep my Water Garden cleaner and ways to have less maintenance. Then I like to share them with you 😊 One of the biggies is Proper Filtration! Keeping the water clean & clear! And also, keeping the algae and sludge to a minimum… That brings me to today’s Pond Tip : 👇🏻 – Algae Eating Japanese Trapdoor Snails (Viviparis malleatus). 💥
These snails are highly sought after by Pond Keepers. They are non-invasive, hardy & will help to keep algae under control in your Water Garden! Japanese Trapdoor Snails will work around your entire Pond consuming decaying organic matter like algae, leaves, excess fish food, and fish waste.
Japanese Trapdoor Snails are hardy and can live up to 5 years! They really help to keep your pond clean. Here’s one we just pulled out of a pond at Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio during a clean out demonstration | Jackson, TN
Japanese Trapdoor Snails are “Live-Bearing” and only breed a couple of times per year – So they won’t take over your pond! Unlike other snails that can breed out of control.
Japanese trapdoor Snails do a great job helping with Pond Maintenance and they only cost around $5 each.
I try to always have some available for purchase. You need to have around 10 Japanese Trapdoor Snails per 50 sq. ft. of surface area of pond and they really make a difference!
Nothing to do? Join me in posting a picture! Yes, there are rules… check them out below 👇🏻Would you like to play?
Join the challenge of posting a picture of some landscape from a place where you’ve been, where the main requirement is that you NOT appear in it. Just a picture, no description. The goal is to flood profiles with landscape photos to give a twist on the situation we’re going through. Copy the text to your status, post a photo and let’s travel virtually!!
Good morning! Well, it’s official… I’m a Blogger geek! At least that’s what my wife and son say 😊 This is my 3rd year doing a daily Blog & I don’t really see an end in sight.
Most Journals are private, this one is public. Published daily…
Many people write a daily journal or diary to get their thoughts recorded. I guess that’s what my Blog is in a way. It’s part life experience, part education & hopefully partly entertainment for others… In any case, it has become a passion & a daily activity that drives me to type & photograph & record things in my daily life. I’m not in any way comparing myself to one of my favorite writers, Thoreau, but I love and identify with this quote of his 👇🏻
“My Journal is that of me which else would spill over and run to waste, gleanings from the field which in action I reap. I must not live for it, but in it for the gods. They are my correspondent, to whom daily I send off this sheet postpaid. I am clerk in their counting-room, and at evening transfer the account from my day-book to ledger. It is as a leaf which hangs over my head in the path. I bend the twig and write my prayers on it; then letting it go, the bough springs up and shows the scrawl to heaven. As if it were not kept shut in my desk, but were as public a leaf as any in nature. It is papyrus by the riverside; it is vellum in the pastures; it is parchment on the hills. I find it everywhere as free as the leaves which troop along the lanes in autumn. The crow, the goose, the eagle carry my quill, and the wind blows the leaves as far as I go. Or, if my imagination does not soar, but gropes in slime and mud, then I write with a reed. “
~ Henry David Thoreau
Have a great Tuesday!
PS: I’m off to speak for a Garden Club ❤️ Wish me luck!
