April 1st. is April fools day to most… In fact, I had planned a funny post this morning myself… But my mind and emotions steered me in a different direction completely, and I had to start over…
Today was also my Uncle Doug’s birthday. He recently passed away from Covid 19 and has been heavy on my mind. I always took him out for his birthday to a place of his choosing. Sometimes it was as simple as his favorite place for Chinese food here in town, or a place in Memphis for BBQ or maybe he would say “Let’s get some steaks 🥩 and fix dinner for everyone. But since I can remember, I spent this day with him.

My blog title today was meant to express how I feel about the love I have for my Uncle.
Time immemorial (Latin: Ab immemorabili) is a phrase meaning time extending beyond the reach of memory, record, or tradition, indefinitely ancient, “ancient beyond memory or record”. In law, it means that a property or benefit has been enjoyed for so long that its owner does not have to prove how they came to own it.
We were close from the day I was born, before my memory’s started! “beyond memory or record”…
He was a true blessing in my life. Happy Birthday in Heaven Uncle Doug! 🙏🏻 You are truly missed ❤️
“God will wipe away every tear from their eyes,
and death shall be no more,
neither shall there be mourning, nor crying,
nor pain anymore,
for the former things have passed away.”
– Revelation 21:4
PS: If you have someone in your life that has been there for you “beyond memory or record”, be it family or a life long best friend, give them a hug today and tell them you Love them. Things happen in the blink of an eye and then all that’s left, is your memories… 🙏🏻

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I got up early & I’m already busy cooking and preparing my part in what will be a HUGE Thanksgiving spread for our family and friends. For my part of the meal I’m fixing a glazed ham, a convection baked turkey & “twice baked” mashed potatoes! Everyone else is fixing a thing or two also (green beans, casseroles, rolls, cranberry’s, deviled eggs, dressing with giblet gravy, a big relish tray, sweet potato’s, cakes and pies, etc… It’s going to be a Feast!
Here’s a few pics from last years spread-
Thanksgiving is an American holiday! It goes back to the pilgrims of course, but did you know that George Washington was the first president to make a formal proclamation for the Holiday? Indeed he was!
“This National Thanksgiving Proclamation was the first formal proclamation of Thanksgiving in the United States. President George Washington declared Thursday, November 26, 1789 as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer.”
Heres the typed text –
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor, and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks, for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation, for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war, for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed, for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us. And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions, to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually, to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed, to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord. To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and Us, and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best. Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.
~ George Washington

George Washington was a great leader & truly loved his fellow man & his new country! He was also a devout man & a Thankful one.
Enjoy this day of Thanksgiving!
God Bless America! 🦃🇺🇸

I bet a Lot of you have watched and enjoyed the movie Lonesome Dove 🕊 It is one of my favorites of all time. I really like old Gus, he’s one of the most colorful characters in the movie for sure 😊 When they hit the trail going north, he made sure his old Livery sign went with!
Cut to reality… My wife & I recently celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary. I took her on a “Antiquing, Junking, Pickin Trip” to celebrate, which I thought was pretty good 😎 But she topped me! She prepped, painted and lettered me a replica of Gus’s old sign for my “junk wall” (don’t ask)…
Did you ever wonder what that Latin phrase at the bottom meant?
“uva uvam vivendo varia fit”
It literally means – a grape changes color (ripens) when it sees another grape.
I wondered on that for quite a while. I think it means that when you see another person like you, in spirit or soul – that you make each other better (ripe)… I think that’s an Awesome metaphor for a great friendship or marriage. ❤️
Peace, Love, Gifts with meaning & Old Grapes 🍇

What a beautiful night we had last evening. We had our Luau party and the weather was just perfect 😊 So many wonderful people came and enjoyed a beautiful June evening in our Garden. The music was Awesome and the food was Great!

From prepping the food to greeting guest yesterday was filled with fun! The neatest reactions came from some of the kids😊 Kids LOVE nature!
Summer is just starting! But it will be gone in the blink of an eye 👁… I hope you can get out and enjoy the Summer season. In fact, let’s all make a point to do just that😊 Times flying by…
“Mine is the Month of Roses; yes, and mine
The Month of Marriages! All pleasant sights
And scents, the fragrance of the blossoming vine,
The foliage of the valleys and the heights.
Mine are the longest days, the loveliest nights;
The mower’s scythe makes music to my ear;
I am the mother of all dear delights;
I am the fairest daughter of the year.”
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Isn’t it nice to get up early & have some daylight! 😎 I LOVE it! It is a little tough to come in wore out from a long day, get a shower, eat and get ready for bed, but it’s too bright to sleep… Oh well, it’s pretty cool going down and getting up with the sun 🌞

A Sunday morning with my Dad, my Son & a Good Old friend is a Sunday Morning to remember! Brothers in Arms!
“In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.
I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people’s feet
Still going past me in the street.
And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?”
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
