Waterfall Wednesday | Carters Nursery, Pond and Patio | Jackson, Tennessee

Some people call it Hump Day… I call it #waterfallwednesday (In the voice of Carl)😂

Yes, we again find ourselves at the midpoint of another week, and as they say “It’s all downhill from here”… Maybe that’s why Wednesdays and Waterfalls work so well together? They both flow downward to an end 😊

This is Luna standing by one of our Waterfalls. She is a beautiful calico (one of our “Nursery Rescues”) and loves to be right there with you when your out around the nursery.

You have probably seen this kitty cat 🐈 before and this Waterfall as well, but, not as much as I have 😊 And I still just love both of em’❤️
So enjoy your Wednesday! It’s all downhill from here… #waterfallwednesday

Sunday Reflections…

When you live at a Nursery, there are still many things to do on a Sunday morning. Check the Greenhouses, water plants, etc… This morning there was a little storm cleanup, and we had to check all the Fountains and Ponds for debris in the skimmers and the like (Bad wind and storms last night). But I love it 😊 Walking into a warm greenhouse, the smell of the plants and the beauty of all the plants, Heaven! I’m still sitting in the greenhouse as I type this ❤️ The north wind is blowing outside today… But in here, it’s a Sunny, Warm Spring day!

You might not have a greenhouse, but I hope you get out and enjoy this beautiful day!

“I like to think of people as a greenhouse
We are only a short moment in history
We can be radiant and beautiful
We can diffuse bliss and contentment
We can show the world that there is more to it
Some of us are short-lived gardens
We forget to water ourselves
Forget that we need sunshine to live
We forget that most on our rainy days
When clouds swarm our four walls
And the light of day does not touch us like it used to
Our flowers droop, fall, and die
We are only plants that require attention
Living objects that some pick up and some only marvel at
We are unique and earmarked
We are not the same
But each of us are fascinating in our own way
Do not forget to take care of yourself
You have so much more to yourself
Than the desolation you feel”

Waterfall Wednesday, Calico Style 🐈

Get up and enjoy the sunshine ☀️ It’s #waterfallwednesday!

Meet Luna, one of our ‘Staff Nursery Cats’… She LOVES the ponds! She climbed up in this Japanese Maple to better survey the area this morning😊

I went down to get a frosty 🥶 picture for my Waterfall Wednesday post, and Luna was with me step for step. I think she likes to be the subject in every photo … Cats 🙄

It’s not real Icy this morning, just a little bit. But we are past Groundhog Day and Spring is Coming!

I hope you enjoy your Waterfall Wednesday! A little frost and ice just adds to the seasonal beauty that a Waterfall brings to your life 😊

Throwback Thursday

Everyone loves a good memory! Here’s mine for this week’s Throwback Thursday – Christmas 🎄 style!

This is Littlepaw. She LOVES Christmas! At least she loves our. Christmas tree 🎄 She sleeps under it, or sometimes up in the tree… Cats are crazy 😝

This picture is a decade old now… That’s 10 years for everyone in Cedar Grove 😝 Littlepaw is still our official Christmas Kitty and still loves it when the tree goes up.

Ahhhhh, Christmas memories on Throwback Thursday ❤️🎅🏻🎄

Have a great day!

Enjoy Throwback Thursday!

And, Merry Christmas 🎄

Lost and Found!

We seem to find our share of animals in need 😇 And sometimes in the darndest places!

We don’t know how this little guy found his way into our boat… But he was definitely lost!

When I first saw him hiding in my boat I actually thought it was a baby opossum 😮But instead it was a cute baby kitten that was very scared & very hungry!

He wouldn’t eat solid food, but lapped up some half&half 😊

After getting something in its belly he became a little socialite, visiting each one of us and being so sweet. We decided we had to find someone who wanted this little baby!

Almost immediately we had someone say they would love to take her. BUT, she had to talk to her grandkids and their parents…

This lovely lady called her kids about adopting this little kitten for her grandkids! GREAT NEWS! – They worked it out and took this little baby into their family 😊

I LOVE it when things work out with abandoned animals! This little baby kitten found a forever home! That’s a success story in my book! What was lost is found and all’s good in a little part of the world 😊

Have a Great Day!

And Then There Was ONE | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Our little pack of nursery kittens have all grown up healthy and happy and 3 of the 4 have found a ‘Forever Home’!

Here’s a picture of Sassy & the kittens. She had this small litter of kittens on Easter Sunday night. We kept them dry & warm & Sassy did the rest. | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

We have just one beautiful kitten left that needs a loving home 🙂 Luna is her name and she is a ‘Calico’.

Did you know that almost ALL calico cats are female? In fact, only 1 in 3,000 calico’s is born male! WOW! Why? The tri-color coat is linked to the X chromosome – it takes two X chromosomes to make the 3 colors…

Luna is the sweetest kitten of them all I think. If you want a healthy, happy, beautiful kitten, come by and look at Luna 🙂

Luna is the sweetest kitten of them all in my opinion. Come by and see her.

The ‘Easter Quadruplets’ have grown up and all but 1 has found a new home. We have been blessed to watch and be able to help these these little babies grow up. Thanks for the feedback and the great comments. AND thanks to everyone who stopped by to see these little beauties.

Have a HAPPY day!

Miss Sassyfras – The Quadruplets Report | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

Last Saturday I blogged about our “Head mouser” – Miss Sassyfras aka: Sassy. She had a small litter of Kittens on Easter Sunday night.

Sassy had kittens Easter Sunday night. We have kept them in a dry, warm place & have dusted with diatomaceous earth to keep pests at bay.

Little Miss Sassyfras is a great momma! She watches over her litter constantly and only goes to eat and drink, etc. when she has too. She has also moved all the kittens to a new “Hide out” every night when we leave the office 🙂

Sassy keeps trying to move the kittens where we can’t find or get to them 🙂 This time to a hidey hole under the lowest storage area we have in the office. She’s VERY protective!

All their little eyes have opened now and they are ALL happy and healthy. They are trying to get out a bit now too. I imagine next week we will get a great show with these new babies at full Kitten Power 🙂 Heres a short but sweet video of Sassy and the kittens. She’s a very loving mother.

I just wanted to give an update on their progress. All’s well and they are all so cute. If you want to take one of these babies home, give me a holler.

Thanks & have a GREAT weekend!

An Important Team Member has Quadruplets on Easter Sunday! | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN
April 7, 2018, 8:39 am

When you run a small business, every team member counts! So you really feel it when one of the team is out for any reason. This week, a very important member of the Carters Nursery team has become a mother in a big way! She didn’t just have a baby – She had Quadruplets! And on Easter Sunday!

Our very own Miss Sassyfras (Sassy) has had 4 beautiful baby kittens! We figured she would be off work a few weeks, but she still performed her main duties as ‘head mouser’ by catching a mouse just 5 days after having Quadruplets!

We got Miss Sassyfras, aka: Sassy as an abandoned kitten some time back. She was injured and the vet couldn’t spay her at the time, so now she is a momma cat 🙂 After she recovers from giving birth for a little while we will take her to the vet and get her Spayed. She is Carters Nurseries “Head Mouser”.

What does it mean to “Spay” a cat? – During a spay, the reproductive organs (i.e. the ovaries and the uterus) are removed. In the US, the spay surgery is called an ovariohysterectomy. This means that the ovaries (ovario-) and the uterus (-hyster-) are removed (-ectomy).

We will have some beautiful Kittens for good homes soon 🙂 Their little eyes will open in a few days and then they really develop quickly! IF you want one of these little babies, please let us know by calling 731-424-2206, we will make sure you get to pick from the litter.

These little beauties haven’t opened their eyes yet. It normally takes 7-10 days for that to happen. As of now, they are fat, healthy & happy! They were born on Easter Sunday 4/1/2018.

Life is a beautiful thing! Little Miss Sassy is a great momma and loves her baby’s! We know that everyone else will too 🙂

Have a GREAT weekend!
