Carter's Water Garden

Sunday Reflection’s…

Beautiful Sunrise 🌅, early morning chores, including breaking up ice in every bowl and trough… Cold 🥶

But the coffees is Hot ☕️ And breakfast was epic! We had black beans 🫘 and rice with applewood smoked sausage for dinner last night. Left overs almost demand my wife’s favorite breakfast – Huevos rancheros! 💥 ie; Ranch Style Eggs 🍳 But when I fix them… Markus T.’s Hillbilly Eggs 🍳 💥

Jo likes her eggs 🥚 over medium. I like egg whites only… But both have rice, black beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole 🥑 & salsa 💥 It’s a meal 🥘

It’s the kind of breakfast that fills you up, warms you up, and let’s you skip lunch 😊

It’s a Cold 🥶, Sunny 🌞 Beautiful 🤩 Day! Don’t waste it 🙏🏻

“The sun is brilliant in the sky but its warmth does not reach my face.
The breeze stirs the trees but leaves my hair unmoved.
The cooling rain will feed the grass but will not slake my thirst.
It is all inches away but further from me than my dreams.”

~ M. Romeo LaFlamme

Enjoy this day! 🌞

Sunday Reflection’s…

The daffodils have bloomed, red buds, cherry’s and so many other early bloomers are showing out right now ❤️And todays event is a definite mile post every Spring. Daylight Savings time 🕰 It’s always tough loosing an hour of sleep… But, in a few days it’s fine, and we get the long evenings 💥 I am a fan for sure. The days will continue to get longer all the way to the Summer Solstice 🌞 Soon our Gardens will be in Full Bloom! Our vegetables will be in the ground and growing. Boating season is starting. It’s finally back! I LOVE Spring!

Soon the Azaleas, Dogwoods, Iris & more will be in full bloom ❤️ Don’t miss it!

More coffee, then who knows?

“In spring the morning is darker
farmers don’t like it one bit.
Children go to school in the dark,
it’s still light when bedtime they hit.

Others prefer daylight saving,
with longer evenings of light.
There’s more time for beach and barbies
before twilight fades into night.

In autumn clock hands fall back
for that missing hour to reclaim.
This upsets our sleeping pattern,
now the brain we need to retrain.

Time then returns to normal
sending the body into shock.
We are messing around with time
by moving those hands on the clock”

Have a great day!

Hump Day Koi Fix | Is It Time To Feed My Koi Yet? Remember The Rule Of 50 | Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee

I post info on seasonal feeding times, temperatures, what’s best for fish health every year about this time. Sure enough it’s that time again! I had 2 calls today asking if they could start feeding their Koi again… I said, Check your Pond thermometer & “Remember the rule of 50”! 😊

“I’ve been hawking my Pond Thermometer these last few weeks! The temperature of the water has been steadily rising as the days get longer and we approach Spring. As usual, I will start the feeding season with Cool Temp Koi Food when the water temp has stabilized over 50 + degrees. The “rule of 50” I like to call it 😉

It’s about time to start feeding our Koi “Cool Temp. Fish Food” & even some fresh fruits and veggies like peas, oranges, grapefruit & softened carrots again! YES!!! I ❤️ Spring! Just remember to read the thermometer 🌡 & follow the “Rule of 50”! Carters Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

This is my favorite season of the year! Everything is waking up! Including my KOI! They have been VERY active lately! And literally begging for food 😊 It’s so hard to wait… But, it’s part of the process & it’s so important for our finned friends health and well being.

Keep your Koi happy and healthy as we transition into Spring. Use quality Cool Temperature Koi Food from Carters Nursery Pond & Patio | Jackson, Tennessee | I ❤️ Koi!

So, to wrap it up…

The Rule of 50 = Let the water temp stabilize for at least a week at 50+ degrees Fahrenheit before you start to feed your koi in the Spring. AND, when you do start back to feeding, use a quality, Cool Season Koi Food! And don’t over feed! Happier days are here again 😊

Happy Pondering 🤔

Sunday Reflections…

This time of year is a challenge. Spring is almost here, but not quite… Everything is starting to emerge & bursting to bloom. It’s actually a magical time to watch everything come back to life. No other time of year holds the magic for me like the next couple months or so 😊

My saucer Magnolia – Magnolia X soulangeana is about to burst open! Many years, it blooms too early and gets bitten by late frost. Hopefully not this year 🤞🏻

As winter turns the corner
And spring is on the way
I wait with mounting happiness
To see what comes today.

I also love the cold days
With frost upon the sill
But something special happens
Once winter’s had its fill.

The crocus buds are swollen
The daffodils sprout so tall
Something special happens
As spring time makes its call.

So get ready for the changes
That happen none too soon
When spring time rounds that corner
And flowers start to bloom!

~ Marilyn Lott

Have a great Sunday!
