Carter's Water Garden

Monday Morning Moment of Zen | Carter’s Nursery, Pond & Patio | Jackson, TN

The Hummingbirds have been Awesome this year! So have the “Hummingbird Moths”. They sometimes get confused with an actual Hummingbird, but… Just watch as she hovers in and around the flowers 🌺 So elegant. You can hear the buzz 🐝 of her wings, it’s almost hypnotic… You can get lost just watching her work. So Zen like…

This is a very special Moth known as a Snowberry Clearwing. Isn’t she beautiful 🤩 I love when they work the flowers by my porch. I will sit and just watch…

Here is a copy/paste from Wikipedia- “Hemaris diffinis, the snowberry clearwing, is a moth of the order Lepidoptera, family Sphingidae. This moth is sometimes called “hummingbird moth” or “flying lobster”. This moth should not be confused with the hummingbird hawk-moth of Europe.”

They nectar on the same flowers that butterflies and hummingbirds feed on, so think about that when planting your seasonal annuals and you will see more Butterflies 🦋 Hummingbirds and Hummingbird Moths.

This is my offering for Monday morning. You can see these beauties for yourself most days this time of the year in a garden near you 😊 Enjoy

Have a great day!
